Master Cylinders...

I think I need a new Master Cylinder, but someone please prove me wrong! I went on a little roadtrip yesterday, and had to hit the brakes hard a couple times for railroad tracks, washboards, etc...I noticed today that the pedal would lose pressure, I'd let off, and it would build it back up, and it was fine. There is no fluid leaking, brake hoses aren't that old, and I don't see anything wrong with the vacuum hose or check valve. I found some on Ebay:

and,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brake...QQcmdZViewItem

Would these work fine, or should I just buy new? Also what kind of a job is it to DIY? The Honda UK Site is still down, pisses a guy off it does!
thnx!!

Yes this is a classic symptom of a internally leaking master cylinder.

BTW Take my advice and go OEM Dealer on this part.

I've had issues with Brake and Clutch Hydralic parts from aftermarket on the legend.

Thnx Steve-o! I'll maybe try a few salvage yards, and see what I can find, hopefully get a known working part. Is it a big job, cuz when it comes to brakes, i'm I hate working with brakes LOL....

Nah... not too difficult to do redlegend, removal and installation of M/C is pretty straight forward, you might need an assistant when bleeding the system though, just get yourself a repair manual and you'll be fine... good luck

Bench bleeding took me longer than installing the MC. Once you bench bleed the mc it will take about 20 min or less to install it then and hour or so to bleed the braking system. It is an easy DIY.

Thanx all!!! I called Acura this morning, and he said a brand new M/C is about $340, but rebuilt, or aftermarket is $115, and he recommended that. No known problems, so I think thats the plan of attack...thanks!
