My Cooling Fans are not working.

Well Im new to the forums and i know nothing about acura legend, heres the run down my sister bought this car about 2 years ago the cars body and interior are in good shape but my sister isnt exactly the best at keeping cars up to date, So the Transmission is know slipping and the cooling fans now longer come on when the car starts to heat up.

So i was wondering What will cause the fans to simply stop working how do i test the fans motors still work (i did read that only the driver side one is the on the comes on) were to i unplug the fans to just put power to them to test if they are working, and if they are were is the relay that tells the fans to kick on when the car heats up.

Car is a 1989 Acura Legend LS 189,000 miles if that changes anything.

Oh And if you guys know of any good places (online stores) to get a good low mileage Auto Trans let me now im currently in the market.

WELCOME!

For the fans, it is usually the fan control unit that fails, but the fan motors themselves do get old and fail as well.

Look at the G1 FAQ Sticky and check out the Online Manual for the entire procedure on testing the fans to pinpoint the problem.

Also, try cleaning the transmission shift solenoids and doing a simple fluid drain and refill to see if that helps with your transmissions shifting problems.

Good luck!

Apply 12v directly to them one at a time....if they come on they are still good...maybe the coolant temperature switch...testing the switch is on page 676 of the online manual...in fact all of the cooling systems electrics start on page 670.
