My first Legend

Well I bought a 1988 Legend Coupe with an auto tranny at on an auction sit last monday. Today I am driving down to North Carolina (from PA) to pick it up. I'm so excited, I have been waiting all week to go get it. It seems to be spotless except for the leather is fading and crack. But that happens to all leather that has been in the sun without conditioning every day. I will keep everyone updated

I LOVE THIS CAR! Im gonna change the timing belt cause its showing signs of wear. Also the valve cover gaskets cause it seems to have a small oil leak. Oh and one question, does anyone know whats wrong with the Acura CD player that it takes the cd in and then spits it right back out?

i had one just like that although i never figured it out , my simple solution :

just go get a new head unit .

and they got alot of varieties like bluetooth , usb , hd radio and all that other junk that we dont need but want and theyre pretty cheap.

all you need is a harness adapter from metra and a head unit that you like .

or you can try to fix ur cd player and while your at it do a diy on that if you do fix it so everyone can save some money and learn how to fix cd players lol

hey Monster! Welcome here. im new too... I just got my 88 Acura legend at an auction too. Im really excited to get it working. And im going to be doing alot of things to it. Good luck on yours. and as for the cd player. Just get a new one, its your best soulution. There fairly cheep depends on the features you requre. But even now the new base cd head units come with mp3 audio cd's and that alone holds bout 150 songs on a single cd

Well I took the center console and everything out to get to the back of the radio and I cant figure it out. The radio shuts off sometimes and i have to smack it so it works. I thought maybe it was a bad ground or loose wire but everything is tight. I don't know, I am just gonna buy a Dual HU to hook up my Pioneer 760watt. I know this isn't really a speaker forum, but do you think there is enough air space to put my 12" subs in the rear deck where the factory speakers are?

Thanks again,
Will

Nope, the 12's won't fit back there, unless its custom made. Aren't they 6X9 on Coupes? I know on my Sedan, I can fit an 8" speaker. Also, try to look for a HU from a G2. Its a plug and play HU if you want that OEM look on ya ride.

Yes, 6x9 in the 90 LS coupes, dunno bout the 87-89 coupes tho. 12" subs will only fit if it's done custom, as l4zy415 said.

Looks like subs in this G1... can't tell the size tho:

Im probably just going to build a new box for the trunk. I dont really want to cut the deck up too much and i wanna put decent speakers back there to keep the good sound.
