1: Im assuming you are talking about racing in a controlled track setting because street racing isn't exactly the smartest route...

2: Dude dont even waste your gas on a V6 mustang...they are dogs and are mostly marketing jazz for the sporty women's segment of the market...if you have a guy friend that's racing a 6 cylinder mustang I'd suspect he's a little on the side....

lmao well yeah we're going to speedworld on saturday to race.....we bet $5 on it...lol he thinks his mustang is the ...he even put it as "beast of the month" in our school paper...the best i ran last time at the track was 16.4 so im hoping i can win me my 5 dollars.....arent our cars heavier?

edit: its funny that u say that because on my way BACK from speedworld my friend in his 2002 dodge ram 1500 (not the hemi one.....and i demolished him at the track) got a speeding ticket and he was right next to me trying to race me, lol

Sorry, but you'll get owned. They aren't huge on hp, but they have decent torque. I raced my buddie's 02 V6 before. He crushed me off the line, but I caught up and blew past him. It was much closer than I had anticipated though.

If you got taken off the line by a 4.2L V-6 Mustang then you do not know how to launch. Plus your in a coupe so you are lighter than that stang. V6 and GT stangs aren't even worth the gas if you have a properly maintained G2. Now a Saleen or a Cobra is a good match. Don't even think about going against a Roush tho.

Arent the 6 cylinder Mustangs 4.0 liters? And they really are fat hogs for their segment of the market...they have been for a good 15 years...

I'm willing to bet your average bolt on GT with anything but piss in the gas tank will wax 99% of the cars on this board from a dig, roll, reverse, or upside down.

Nope, the new Mustangs use the 4.2L V-6 which is nothing more than a bored out 3.8L Headgasket eater. They started using the 4.2L in 2003, before that they were 3.8L. Either way, both engines are headgasket eaters.

And yes, I willing to put $1,500 down on a run with a stock GT stang right now. (Note: I'm driving a stock 1991 Legend LS Sedan Auto!) The stock GT pulls 15.3_ on the 1/4 consistantly. And my 91 LS Sedan pulled 15.1_ 3 times in a row. That GT was driven by a buddy of mine who I know can run a 1/4. H eknows how to launch that thing. The key to drag racing is getting a good launch. There is a trick to it in the Automatic Legends. Once you figure it out you can launch better than any 5-speed Legend.

I'm pretty skeptical of your 15.1 bone stock run in a Type I automatic. What were your 60's? What kind of tires were you on?

Are you referring to the ebrake or to neutral dropping?
