Wow, all the times we've been trying to get ahold of clear G1 corners, and you're giving them away! Wish I knew more about G2s, it seems to definitely be fuel delivery/ECU related. Intermittant, too, if it ran fine yesterday and today it's pig rich.

might sound out of the ordinary steve but how are the ground connections? also how is the wiring leading to the o2 sensors? also you may want to check for any shorts leading to the ecu, it almost sounds as if the o2 sensors arent working at all IE it running "pig rich"

Will have to try and get my hands on one from a Honda wrecker. Only problem is that it won't be that cheap and there is no gaurentee of it's condition.
I have attached a link in the other post that shows the excessive fuel coming out of the exhaust. I will have to check the timing, and recheck everything ![]() Thanks for the suggestions guys, really appreciate it. Any more are welcome.

timing shouldnt affect it and youd know if it was that bad. Pity you dont know some1 who has a g2 to just swap the ecu with and if it fixes it then you know you just need a new one. Was there any particular thing that happened when this problem first showed its face

The fluctuating idle was the first symptom, it has never gone away, bleeding the cooling system after hours will still result in a fluctuating idle. Perhaps a vacuume line, but what one would cause it to run as rich as it is?
It got so bad that it didn't start, that's when the igniter was replaced with another one... this one could be faulty as it is second hand, I suppose I will have to get my hands on another one to see. Honda did get the timing off by 1 or 2 degrees when they repaired the BHG. They then corrected it and it was running at 1500 RPM idle but not running rich. We have had a combination of high and low idle and very rich mixture... I am lost for answers.

INTERMITTENT fuel delivery problems are usually due to a short to ground in the injector circuit. The ECU supplies a ground to activate each injector, and if there's a short, an injector on that circuit would be wide open all the time. That's my first guess.
And just to recap the obvious, check ECU grounds and connections, but I thiink that's been stated. Also, check if the G2's have a resistor pack for the injectors like the G1's. It could also be at fault.

Ok let's start with some basic stuff here.
1.Does it have vacume going to the fuel pressure regulator ?? Pull the vacume line off the regulator and look were the line connects is it wet in there?? If it is then regulator is blown . With the idle being high I suspect a vacume leak.Take some carb cleaner and spray around the intake and vacume lines if it smoothes out you found your leak. 2.The tw sensor... The G1s have two sensors one for the gauge and one for the ecm don't know about the G2s it might be set up that way also. Could have changed the wrong one IT HAPPENS !!! 3. Are you running the factory brand and heat range plugs in it ?? 4.Recheck air filter and air tubes going to it could have some critters living in there LOL .Check all that and repost. HOPE THIS HELPS !!! |

well im not completely sure if the legends have them but my friends miata did the same thing. could be the Idle Air Control Valve(IACV). not sure how to test.but just use your fingers and plug some holes for a second or two and see how it differs. also you can test your coil packs with a multi meter.set it to ohms. just take the two leads and put one on each side ...not sure what factory specs are but , if you set it to volts it should read overload or OL.hope this helps
