No Power at full pedal
I recently bought a 1988 legend LS 24 valve PFI V6. The problem I'm having is the car has very slow acceleration. When the pedal is pushed to the floor, it takes what seems like a minute to get up to 35 mph. I was told the problem might be the catalytic converter. It was suggested to punch a hole in the converter to see if the problem still existed. Does this sound like the solution?

If the converter is clogged you could break the inside out of it, but that would make it impossible to pass smog inspection. As an alternative you can get an exhaust shop to cut the converter section out and weld in a universal converter to the existing flanges. |

One of my friends had a clogged cat on his Chevy Envoy. He took it into the dealership for service and they said since it was a smog device, it was under warranty for the life of the car.
Now I don't know what the dealership is referring to, but it didn't cost my friend a dime for a new cat and this was from a dealership in LA so maybe there are special rules. |

Is yor car automatic or manual. If its automatic, does it go through gears?

Ya it might be the cat. converter is clogged. But first, check your ECU for codes. if you do get any, fix those problem, then see how the car runs.
