As any of you DIY's have realized, it sure makes life a lot easier if you have the Honda part number when you begin your part search at the various parts websites. The local Acura dealer parts department are obviously reluctant to share these numbers if they suspect you are seaching the net for better prices. So what do you do?
I continually see a guy on Ebay advertise a parts list for every vehicle known to man, including the first generation Legends. Has anyone here seen his listiings? I wouldn't mind paying his price (about $10, as I recall) if it will really help me. But I fear it might only list the more common items such as oil filters, spark plugs, brake pads, etc., so I am hesitant. Ideally, I would like to have a database, like the dealer, that has a picture associated with the part number. For example, I recently replaced the bracket that holds my rear license plate light. (The one that always rusts away on the salt encrusted roads of Ohio!) Who would have guessed that it is listed by the 'highly descriptive' name of 'Stay'! The last several years I have gotten a little smarter in that I save the Honda part number of anything I order. I try to either keep the old part in the Honda envelope, or write in the part number on the picture in my service manual. I bet there are others out there that do the same. Maybe if we pooled are collective knowledge we could create a pretty fair list on our own? All suggestions are more than welcome! |

I'd like to have a list of part numbers too. The only potential problem with this is that part numbers can change. However, I doubt that G1 parts are going to change anymore. The "latest" revision of a parts list would certainly be a valuable thing to have.
However, armed with a part number and dealing with one of the many excellent parts suppliers and dealerships (Asian Auto Parts and Acura of Augusta, for examples) you can usually be assured of getting the correct part at a fair price.
