Ok I'm a little confused, the first link you posted there was talking about problems with bulbs NOT WORKING because they were no longer making proper contact...unless I missed something. So I fail to see how this would cause a light to come on...
I also have the flashing oil light problem, and it has started to come on with more frequency, and not just after hitting bumps. Sometimes it comes on right after starting up the car after sitting for a while. The entire circuitboard for the gauge cluster was replaced less than a year ago as well. |

I had actually had 2 problems....a blinking RED oil light and a check system YELLOW light which also showed up as low oil in the information center. I had the oil level sending unit changed ( down near the oil pan ) and the oil pump itself ( 1st replacement ). Both problems fixed.

Yeah the oil pump is what I'm wondering about. My engine has seemed a little coarse and "rattly" when cold, beyond just the usual lifter ticking, and louder than other Legends I've heard even when it's warm, and I've often wondered if the oil pressure and circulaton is as good as it should be. Tried 5w30, 10w30, all with no real difference. I'm in the rinse phase of a second Auto-rx treatment, and have seen zero improvement over both treatments. In fact I would say my lifter tick is considerably louder than before I started either of the auto-rx treatments. Then the light started coming on, and seeing as how I've already had my circuit board in the dash replaced....suffice it to say I've been a little concerned. I had it checked at the dealer and they said nothings wrong, the oil pumps never go bad, so forget about it....but they didn't check the pressure. I hope it really is just a glitch in the system somewhere like everyone keeps saying...

I put up with the blinky light for a couple of years after spending over $2000 at the dealer (o.k. there was a lot of other stuff, but that's what I took it in for). Half mile down the road leaving the Dealer's, on came the light. That was the last time I was at the dealers.
As things progressed, it wasn't just the oil light. I'd get random lights, Check Engine (no Code), System Check (no Info Center Msg). My Highbeam Indicator would not light, my Cruise Control light would not light. Low Fuel warning light did not come on. Eventually, no turn signal indicators (once in awhile they'd work). Anyway, it appears the circuit board had a problem. I went in with the intent of resoldering like others have described. But, found black corrosion on the copper connectors where bulbs screw in, and on the alum wires on the bulbs themselves where they plug into the plastic sockets. All I did was clean the connectors and _everything_ cleared up. That was almost a year ago and I have not had a single problem since. Everything works like a new car. Sometime later, I had a problem with my Cruise Control not coming on. I took the control box off the steering wheel, disassembled it and clean the copper contacts and it has worked perfectly since. I suspect those with gear light indicator problems on the dash or the console have a similar condition. My car is now 17 yrs old. I would expect unfinished copper to corrode in that time. So, everything in the car dependent upon copper contacts will likely need a cleaning by now. It's really simple chemistry.

Lucky,
Your problem does sound like an actual oil pressure problem. I'd definitely check it. Oil pumps do go bad once in awhile. Beyond that, you could have a clog in the oil filter containment piece which effects circulation. Certainly sounds like something to get to the bottom of.
