Starting Problem?

My wife just experience a problem with our '90 Sedan. It was running just fine and stalled. It turns over just fine and starts for about 2 seconds and dies. After repeated attempts there is a little smell of gas. Help.

Sounds like the main relay. However, I had a similar problem with my Legend this week and it turned out to be the fuel pump.

An easy way to check it is to remove the connector from the fuel pump after removing the access panel in the trunk. There should be 12 volts across the two pin connector for a few seconds when the ignition switch is turned to run. If you don't have voltage I would suspect the main relay. If you have voltage but the pump doesn't run it's the pump.

Thanks to all so far. I need to have the vehicle towed to my house and then troubleshoot starting with the fuel pump and main relay. BTW, where is the main relay located?

The main relay is under the dash on the drivers side. Remove the plastic panel
under the drivers side dash and look up. If you have a new one you will know what it looks like. It isn't necessary to remove the box it's in. Rather pry the sides of the box aside and slide the relay out and slip the new one in.

Tried a new Main Relay, no joy. Fuel pump is next. Any DIY out there on that process?

I just did it on my Legend.

The fuel pump module can be accessed from the trunk by removing an access panel. The pump module is on the drivers side of the car and has two fuel lines going into it. Remove the fuel lines and electrical connector. The pump module is held in by a number of studs and nuts. Once all the nuts are out the pump module can be removed. Replace the pump portion and install a new screen. There should be instructions with the replacement pump.
