Folks, unless you have an extremely unusual problem like carbon keeping the valves from completely closing (and in which case you'd have lots of other problems besides just the noise) nothing you put in the gas or run through the combustion chambers is going to get rid of noise caused by excess valve lash (HLA or "lifter" ticking). The HLA's are not exposed to what's going on in the combustion chamber, but only the oil supply. Therefor if the "ticking" you're hearing is indeed HLA noise the only additives that might help are those that go in the oil.

If you have noise that is cured by using an additive that goes in the gas or intake then the overwhelming likelihood is that what you're hearing is "pinging" (carbon knock, preignition or detonation).
