Turbo kit almost ready 2.7L turbo anyone?
In reference to my thread where I have had it with my turbo legend http://acura-legend.com/vbulletin/sh...ad.php?t=85695 the kit I have put together from it is nearly ready for sale. There are some pictures in that thread but I will take more over the next week.
Basically I just want to hear from people what they see as potential problems as far as installation of the kit is concerned and also whether anyone would be interested in it at all and how much they would be willing to spend. I would like to offer it to this community but otherwise I will just sell it locally (New Zealand) for ease. The kit will include a turbo exhaust manifold with O2 sensor, a turbo adaptor, a subaru vf10 turbo (can be swapped out for any subaru turbo), a side mounted intercooler, all piping, pod filter, full turbo back 2.5inch exhaust inc muffler and resonator and downpipe, some vacuum lines, 4ga cable to run to boot for battery relocation, blow off valve (brand new), all hose clamps and joiners. Nearly all of the aftermarket items are brand new, just sitting around. Turbo and whole setup will provide very fast spool and a LOT more mid range torque. Anyway potential problems.... some have already been pointed out in the photo on the last page of the thread mentioned above. Unfortunately i do not have access to a NA legend so cannot find these things out for myself. 1) the battery needs to be moved to the boot for placement of the side mount intercooler in the wheel well. 2) the exhaust manifold going to the turbo has a bracket which rests on the top of the transmission so a small bracket will need to be fabricated to connect these. 3) Everything on top of the transmission needs to be relocated for the turbo and the air filter which sits behind it- is this possible? I do not have a NA legend but I recall from my old 86 2.0 there was just the airbox there with a snorkle to the side of the car. 4) the turbo legend had its throttle body and intake manifold set up differently. The kit will use the stock NA throttle body because it is bigger and better placed. This means that the intercooler piping I had will need to be cut and rewelded slightly. Will the turbo be in the way of stock throttle body? I can supply a turbo spec fuel pump and ecu for anyone who would like them with this kit. The harness is the same I think. We guessed I got a good 230-250hp from my turbo legend at 8-9psi. A NA legend will definitely see a good 40-50hp I would imagine with only ~4-5psi. It was quite easy to get over 100mph up my favourite very steep hill anyway. |

Please note that this was a 2liter engine. I do not know whether the 2.5 and 2.7 have the same manifold pattern but I can measure the exhaust manifold when I find my second one (other manifold is staying with the engine).
5) The turbo oil and water lines will need to be installed into engine. Water should not be a problem at all but oil may be a little more difficult. Someone may need to have a good look for good places to tap into. Oil needs to come from a feed possibly in one of the heads and will need to go back into the block. |

Yeah...that's the problem. I don't think the manifolds are the same for a 2.5 or 2.7 litre motor with the 2.0. As a matter of fact......the 2.0 litre motor had a factory turbo option in your part of the world.

Yes you are correct it was a very rare option and I have one which is where this kit has come from as I do not want to spend the money to make the car street legal again and I am wrecking it. Would anyone mind measuring the spacing of the stock 2.5 and 2.7L manifold pipes if they have a spare one?
