Won't start Need help.......

I have a 1990 LS sedan and every now and then,my car won't turn over.It will turn over but won't start.I have noticed that when it's really hot and humid out, like 90 degrees and high humidity,it won't start. But as soon as the sun goes down or at night,it will start like normal as if there was never a problem.I tried taking it to a shop, but it never does it when I take it there and they tell me they can tell me whats wrong because its not doing it at that time.It has me baffled.I also don't think the hot temperature outside is the main cause because it has had the same starting problem in the winter when its freezing out. Any help will be appreciated.

Replace or repair the main relay. If you search for this topic you will see that it has been discussed many many many times here and is a very common problem on older Hondas.

You say it also happens in the winter also. Try another thing. Open your gas tank and let the system depressurize. Try to turn the car over a couple of times. Put the gas cover back on.. then try to start as normal. You may have a little vapor lock also.

I have the same problem. So why would heat cause this problem though and how does it affect the main relay.

The problem is the solder on the circuit board within the main relay board. With summer heat you have expansion and with winter cold you have contraction so over time, the solder joints develop dry rot (I think that is what they call it). When it gets really hot, these dry rot spots on the board prevents the circuit from forming so you can't start the car. If you open your windows and wait a while for the interior to cool, then these solder joints shrink and circuit is now ok again.

The solution is to remove the main relay and resolder the bad solder joints on the board. Other solution is to buy a new main relay , however it'll cost you. If you are handy, you can easily resolder.

Do a search on this board....lots of how to fix with instructions.

Good luck.

Thanks for everyone's help.I am going to re-solder the joints and see if that helps,if not,I will just buy a new relay. They are only $40 I see.

Ok after reading up on the not starting topics on this forum,I read that when turning the key to the number 2 position on the ignition,I should hear the fuel pump.I noticed today that when I tried to start my car when it was hot outside, and the car wouldn't start,I didn't hear the fuel pump. After a few more times of turning the key to the 2 position and then trying to start the car,it finally started on the try that I DID hear the fuel pump.So now my question is,do I need a new fuel pump or is the main relay causing the fuel pump trouble? And if my fuel pump is bad, wouldn't the car hesitate or stall at times because the fuel pump is not putting out? My car's performance is very good and never stalls or hesitates.Any suggestions??????

Not sure if it works yet but the car starts. But the real test will be on a real hot day. So we will have to see.

There are threads on this....it's under the bottom dash in front of your left leg.
My manual's in my car....which is at the shop..or I'd be more specific.
