G1 Convertible update-SNEEK PEEK

Here's some pics of the progress on the G1 convertible. Let me know what you guys think of my rat rod. The turbo is going to be remote mounted under the car. The long blue tube is a water-air cooler, and another box-type intercooler is going in the front of the engine bay. I'm looking for better pricing on a Garrett GT3076R turbo if anyone has any connections, PLEASE HELP! (a GT3071R will work also as long as it has 56 compressor trim and a .50 A/R housing).

That thing looks amazing. Any sort of power goal you're after with the T2.7 setup? We've got ourselves a master coachbuilder among us!

+1 and will it actually have a targa/convertible roof, if so is it custom or are your tweaking another convertible model's roof to fit? This has got to be one of the most original Legends I've ever seen, kudos!!

To answer your Q's...

Elver- The wing is gone! Gimme a break! lol

NuclearSymphony- Trying to match a NSX stock engine output of about 280hp, 260 ft-lbs torque. We are building the turbo setup to handle up to 500 hp, for when I can afford engine internals later. Maybe next year.

Bandoni & Samblaze- There are cross bars underneath for now, a roll cage is goin in eventually. The roof will be a 2 piece hardtop, with a targa section separate from the rest of the roof. It will look nothing like the old Legend roof. Probably getting rid of the rear windows completely. This will hopefully be done very soon. Frame work is together on that, but the sheet metal is a pain.

Telefonic- The body kit is an Erebuni Style 6, with a hell of a lot of fiberglass modification. The bumper was my baby. I had to have the air dams on top to get more air to the radiator. The heat exchanger blocks a lot of flow to the rad., and I knew I would have overheating issues on this V6, so they serve a purpose. I wasn't JUST going for the R33 look. lol

You guys can expect to see me at NALM. NOPI too. Maybe not painted by then, but I gotta have the turbo and hardtop done.

New progress. I've started makin parts for the SDS engine management system, and here's some pics...

Holes have to be machined in the crank pulley for magnets to be installed for crank sensor pickup. 1/8 made a perfect hole. It has to be in the right spot. Too far out, and it's in the threads of the pulley. Too far in, and there's not enough metal on the inside to hold it, and the magnet could come loose. NO GOOD. Not to mention these 3 holes have to be EXACTLY 120 degrees from eachother.

Also, a bracket for the crank sensor itself has to be made. Mine will bolt to 2 oil pan studs, which will be lengthened to suit, but maybe not necessary.

Notice the oil pan lip has to be grinded off or cut, so the braket will mount flush.

The SDS will not use EGR, nor will it employ any of the OEM air idle valves, fast idle valves, etc. SO, the passages have to be sealed up for these devices.

Stay tuned for more progress on the G1 convertible, and watch out for the full D.I.Y. on the SDS engine management system, AND a D.I.Y. TURBO!

Another power-related thought, which I'm sure has already occurred to you, is traction. Any plans for some sort of LSD? Or stronger half-shafts? 500hp is approaching that of FWD drag cars
