Acura Legend vs. Ford Taurus

My buddy has a '04 Ford Taurus V6 3.0 and he seems to think he can take my '92 Acura Legend type I, what do you guys think?

Hm. Well, after a quick bit of searching, the Taurus has a 3.0L V6. It's rated at 155HP, 185 ft/lb. The car weighs 3300 pounds, which is about on par with a G2. Erm, I forget what the Type 1 is rated at for torque, but with 200HP under the hood and similar weight, I think you hold the advantage at the drag strip, especially if you're rocking a 5-speed. If you've got an auto you should do alright as well... I'm assuming the Taurus is an auto, as well.

If you two're taking your cars to a road course or an autocross event, I would put my money down on the Legend, as well. You probably have an edge on suspension and braking ability as well. That's just my opinion of course, and I'd wait for others to chime in but I don't think you'll have too too much of a problem.

legend for the win!!!

ford taurus is a sloppy slow pig...may get a jump on you off the line possibly....but unlikely it will be able to keep up the steam....add the fact they are anemic to begin with

Heh. I'd even guess that a G1 would have a chance against that Taurus, especially if it were manual.

You'll win, especially cause the taurus's engine and tranny will probably, , all over the road before the finish line. POS!

The Taurus will get burned, I'd be surprised if it even makes it to the end of the track. I've burned so many of those, for some reason the owners think SHO actually means something. Don't even bother racing him.

Our G2 legend (especially, with manual) is in general very slow to start. Even those stock neon's may win G2 at start-up (well, quite-depending on how to drive though....).

However, there are not many cars out there which can defeat our G2 in high speed cruising (or well of course with similar engine capacity, V6, 3.X liters...). In high speed cruising, our V6 G2 is even very compatible to a lot of V8 powered vehicles.

Taurus is every day commuter's car, with reasonable amount of torque in lower speed range. No way compared to our G2, our G2's torque distribution is rather unique so that (especially in Automatic version), for example, even passing 100mph, there is still some "feels" left to push further. I personally have not been able to push above 110mph with regular 94L Sedan with Auto, of course, it is ownsome feel which I have never experienced with any of V6 or even V8 Ford, Chevy, Dodge/Chrystler's before.

No offense to Taurus owner, but to me it sounds like, someone comparing too much different breeds...

what? idk don't really think so, i can take of very quick, i'd say its the same as other v6's. its all about practice, my 4runner on the other hand is a dog. I think you just feel like its faster in a neon because of how much smoother our cars are.

I hope you mistakenly put neon instead of srt-4..... there is no way a neon is faster than a legend. auto or not. i drive my gfs neon and there is no way its anywhere close to a legend. you floor it and you hear a lot of noise and feel the car twisting. id say a civic is faster than a neon and dont even try compare a civic to a legend!!!!
