Question Hitting the Track!! G2 vs GTI

So Im hitting the drag strip against a 2001 GTI 1.8T tomorrow. I know they come with 180 hp stock. This dude has a CAI and a blowoff valve...+ a CF hood.
Who's gonna win??? Gimmie your opinion...
I feel my car is really strong and Im pretty sure I can take him....Keep in mind that Im a pretty good driver and yes I shift through the gears....

Hahaha!!!! I smoked him!!!!

I'd say that it will come down to the driver...

P.s. I don't know wich car has a better power to weight ratio...

(assuming you have a 5-Speed) This is how its going to happen: It's going to be a partly cloudy day with a temperature in the low 70's; a very close race, but the GTI will take the win. The End.

Stock the 01s generated 150hp (article) but only weights 2800lbs.

You power to weight ratio is only marginally better with a TypeI (very marginally).

If you're running an auto, don't shift through the gears. From a stand still, you're better off just hammering it and letting the transmission do its work. I'd bet on the GTI winning with what little mods he's done but I don't think it'd be murder. If you're both sticks you might even edge him out if you're a good driver and if he isn't.

No he doesn't. That's just a TypeII badge slapped onto a throttle body for show: TypeIIs have their badges on the intake manifold. TypeIIs also generate 230hp.

Looks to me it would be pretty close but he probably would have you off the line and at the finish - if he's a decent driver/gets a good R/T/etc. You'd have a much better chance racing him from a roll. Then again, anything can happen at a track.
