Exclamation HELP!! :(

im bummed on this one...

yesterday i was had a bit of an argument with the wife and in that fit of anger i ended up slamming my trunk shut... (now dont rile me on this! im feeling bad already!)

last night i realised the trunk wont open. the button under the driver's side console initiates the mechanism..i can hear the gears..but doesnt open.

same thing with the remote key opener and also the same with the manual key entry point.

she just won't open.

decided to give the dealer workshop a visit just now and ive been asked to leave the car in the morning. they're gonna get into the trunk from the inside after removing the backseat and will then check to see if the cable is twisted or snapped. sounds fine by me, but then you have the seats removed and you see a JL sub covering the entire width!!thats locked down in place by a bolt that screwed in from the outer end. to get to that bolt you need to get past this...

WTF do i do???? there's imp stuff i need to access from in there for work tomorrow

I'm gonna say you damaged the latch or just loosened it a little bit. if it's anything like the glovebox assembly, you'll have tighten it up from time to time as the repeated opening and slamming shut will loosen the assembly a little.

I doubt the majority of people have ever had this problem. so no one is replying...

maybe try turning the key while hitting the trunk latch button simutaneously?

I'm stumped. Normally you could go in through the back seat. There is an airvent on the lower driver side. If you take the bumper off, it is big enough to reach into the trunk. I wonder if you could reach the latch from there? I'll check tonight...

The air vent measures about 8 inches by 4 inches. You could get your arm in there. The problem is that it is 33 inches from that opening to the latch.

Maybe have someone pulling up on the trunk lid while hitting the button, or push up and down on the lid while pushing the button or with the key in the lock?,maybe? Goodluck!

I think you have to try this!

Just press your trunk lid downward seriously while you or helper turn the key on the trunk and hold the key turned, and then, lift the trunk lid up.

IMHO, the trunk lid striker was bent down when you slammed the trunk lid. So, you have to press the lid instead of lift it to release locking mechanism from the striker. In case of the striker bent to left or right, you may try to press and push the lid to left or right while unlocking the trunk by key.

Just give a try!

Sorry to say it, but your gonna have to somehow move the box out of the way to get in the trunk. That's the only way man, sorry you have to go through a lot of trouble. GL homie.

thanks l4zy...im preparing for the worst!

if something is broken, im gonna end up having to drive around with the boot taped down for at least 3 weeks since the local dealer doesn't stock parts for the RL since theyre so rare...

just thought i shouldn't leave this unfinished...

managed to break into it yesterday...went in via the back seats.

only had to break the L bracket holding the amp in place, and as a result, the board on which the amp was fitted, broke. simple replacement.

about the latch itself, the rod/cable activating the latch had broken. the guy got that fixed to, so all is cool now

thanks for everyone's help anways
