Thx 97 RLer for your great list. I'll go with the kumho 711 since is they're the cheapest lol. Does the 90 load rating is enough for the RL? I though the RL weight around 4000 pound..

Load rating of 90 means 1323lbs/tire I think you'll have no problems unless you load up over 5300lbs.

Why 17's bro?You will have a big gap that even lowering will not help.RL is a big body sedan and needs big body wheels.18's at minimum and ideally 19's.I went with 20's but looking back I would do some phatty lip 19's(VIP look) but I love my 20's.Makes my car look aggressive.I guess 17's are the way to go if you just wanna slap rims on w/o fender work but if money an issue buy some wheels off craigslist or ebay. You can mod ur car on a budget.Just my 2 cents

Are you buying the tires for RL? Then the 235/40/17 tire size is away wrong. I thought You were buying them for 2nd-gen Legend. What year of RL do you have? What was the stock OEM tire size? Was it 215/60/16 or 225/55/16? Don't buy the 235/40/17 tires. Give me the information and I will calculate a right size for the 17 inch wheels. 97_RLer |

of course it works.i was the one who had them installed about a month ago at L and T japenese specialists in la puente,ca.if u want all the details message me.they used 91-'7 ground control coilovers.$500 installed.a little bouncy on the ride but way better than stock and they adjust unlike springs.i have 20 inch rims slammed and it looks sic.
p.s.haven't updated cardomain since the drop and paint job.Pics will come soon. bLaDe RuNnEr: 1996 Acura RL Ridin' on 20" Blades - HB, California Last edited by CALI-RL-714 : 03-29-08 at 10:58 PM. Reason: added link |

96-01 RL has an OEM tire size of 215/60/16, and 02-04 RL has 225/55/16. To keep the overall diameter the same to OEM, You have to choose the 17 inch tire size of 215/55/17 or 235/50/17. Your current tire size is too too small and the 225/45/17 is not the right size. Remember, the overall diameter of the tire size is very important and must be within 1% difference that I highly recommend.

my friend ... your car will look fine with 17's -- i don't trip off of 19's or 20's either. here's mine with only 16's - stock height no lowering...

55's would not look funny at all but actually may rub barely. 45's would be ok i guess but right now i'm going for some 215 or 225 50's on some 17's.

I guess I'll go with 225/50/17 they're about -1.1 difference. It's still in 1% difference range, I assume there shouldn't be any problems right? I try to go with 97 RLer recommended tire size 215/55/17, but wheelmax.com doesn't carry them. LOL 235/50/17 is way too much money.

Tires for PASSENGER CARs very cheap, bargains, have a look and save 235/50/17 tire starts from $80.50. But I would recommend Hankook Ventus V4 es H105 235/50 R17 96W at $92.50 per tire. Basically, any tire which has the diameter and width less than OEM is working on the car but you will have some issues. The odometer reading will be differ and the transmission gear ratio will be negatively affected. I prefer the overall diameter of the tire somewhat (within 1%) bigger than OEM with bigger rims (19 or 20 inch) for looks. |
