Hey guys, I'm in the process to install a sound system in my car. I'm stuck where to run the power wire for the aftermarket amp. For those of you installed an aftermarket amp please tell me where did you run the wire. The engine compartment is really tight and this is the best way i run the wire without drilling any hole. Do you guy think this will work? I'm going to wrap with electrical tap maybe heat shrink tube or some kind of rubber to protect it from the door panel.
Any idea? Thx.

That's a no no! Never run a wire like that. (Plenty of vehicles in the junkyard from doing that.) That looks like 8 gauge? If your using a amp more than 300 watts use 4 gauge and up. The grommet is in the picture behind the washer bottle on the fire wall.

Yes Sir, that's it. The reason why a suggest 4 gauge or better is because eventually you will want to upgrade or add additional amps. (Just food for thought.)
Yeah , the one cirled would be it, and I agree with bigboy , running 4ga would be a good idea because later on your going to want more bump and then your going to need the thicker wire , and again with the process ,
Yea, thanks guys. Anyway, I ordered the sub and amp already so it should be here by next week. I'm going with the 4 gauge as you guy mentioned and don't have to do the wire later on. I can't wait to install the system. I'm so excited that I can't focus on studying for my exam

Ok, so today I tried to run the wire through the grommet on the fire wall but I could not figure out how to remove it. I used a flat head philip to remove it but it did not bother to come off. Can I use a drill or something sharp to poke through it? Here is the other grommet that I found when the splash guard from the driver side removed. Same, I could not remove the grommet, is there an easy to them?

The safest way is to make an X with an utility knife. once your wire is ran use some silicone to reseal the grommet. I don't think I ever seen your RL, any pics?
Ok, I'll try with the knife but I have to wait til next week No more free time this weekend. I though I posted my car pic some where, well if you have not seen it, here they are. It has been a very reliable car but now I have to replace the rack and pinion, worry about the emission on August, and in the mean time try to do a rear conversion

Just move the wire around, it should just fall right under the dash board, and nice looking RL, my sister had one just like it , but her husband totaled it before i got a chance to buy it
