Yay power folding mirrors part 2!

Alright guys, previously I bought some power folding mirrors from a KA8 to retro on my KA9. The glass is the same and the housings are similar in size and shape.

The reason why the retrofit wont/didnt work is because the actual inner-workings of the mirrors are different. The RL power mirror has 2 wires for the heater, 4 for the mirror actuator and another 4 for god knows what. The harness is a 7 pin connector as well.

The RL power mirror actuator won't fit in legend mirror innards because there are four wires coming out of the back of the actuator...the legend just has the 4 wires that connect to the back of the actuator for the power adjustment.

All in all the shit don't fit from KA8 to KA9.

The RL has a 7 pin connector while the legend has a 5 pin, and there is no way to make the legend mirror assembly work in the RL...none at all.

So I ate that loss and now those mirrors are in the back of my trunk.

Here's the good news, I was able to buy some power folding mirrors for a KA9 today...a KA9. The connector is the same from what I can tell, but the biggest difference is the JDM KA9 mirrors have the power motor and the USDM doesn't.

How I'm going to wire them up...I got no idea lol. Probably going to have add a separate switch, or add wires to the wiring harness, which I shouldn't have to do...I hope.
All I know is that this damn shit is going to work after I'm done with it.

Would it be hard to wire the mirrors to fold when you take out the key or when you lock the car? I have the power mirrors but they are not autofold. Good luck with the mod Hnic.

it shouldnt be all that hard. i've seen it done before on some KA7's that had the power folding mirrors retrofitted. i imagine any place that can install an aftermarket alarm correctly could do something like that relatively easily.

I'm down in CLT from time to time, I'd be glad to sneak over with some gear and see if I could help you figure it out.

why were they retrofitted? do you mean.. had the jdm folding mirrors installed? its a pretty straight forward change out

retrofit as in, putting the power-folding mirrors on a car that came with manual-folding mirrors.

I purchased them from ebay.

However, the KA9 power folding mirrors will not work on my RL unless I get all the wiring from a KA8.

The only difference between the two is the housing itself, all the mechanicals and wiring is the exact same and doesn't solve my problem of turning a 7-pin connector into a 5-pin connector and still having the mirror work like it's supposed to.

This prjoject has been back burnered until I get lucky enough to get the wiring stuff that I need out of a KA8. However, I don't think that will solve my problem either.
