OOOOO funny story

I get a phone call this morning from my mom. She wants to use a classier car then her 01 Pathfinder to go get here hair and nails done and then take it to this party this weekend. So the cars been in storage at home with a repaired BHG and newly installed Damper. Well im woken up to my mom complaining about this thuding type of sound under the dash in right about the center of things. So I tell her what it is and just to be care full while on the throttle.

I thought i should share. Im waiting for another phone call when she realises how much faster the car indeed is

See HERE but I need to change that post since we did away with the colors when we revised the damper. They now only come in carbon fiber...

Will have pics up soon as I have one in my hand.

I'm been having a tick that increases with engine rpm. I've actually thought it was a lifter, but now I'm starting to think its the damper. I had a louder tick and I tightened it and reinstalled and now its softer but rises with rpm. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Should I take it off and tighten it more? I have already flipped the damper (ie: adjuster toward firewall).

Also can I tighten/adjust it without taking it off? Also unlike a previous tick that went away if I had someone put pressure on the damper, this one stays.

-Ed

Edit: I took it off, tightened it. The distance between the bottom of the "preload adjusting plunger" and the top of the "Jan nut for preload adjusting plunger" is about 3/8 inch. Is that fully tightened? Also since I did that the distance between the "Jam nut for engine side heim joint" and the "engine side heim joint" is much less. Probably only 2 or 3 threads. Is that alright?

The clicking is a little bit quieter, and I mostly only hear it now between 1500rpm and 2000rpm.

I have about 1/8 of an inch between the preload nuts so you should be fine there - you are able to almost get those two nuts to touch if you tighten it all the way so you still have some room if you're looking for more preload. I don't think that's where the noise is coming from though. I would check the firewall bolts and make sure they're not loose - in fact, check all the mounting bolts and make sure they're tight. If that doesn't fix the problem, lengthen the damper by half turns until the noise goes away. What I think the major problem is in the design is that the heim joints are floating, and that little bit of play that helps it articulate during flex, is causing vibrations through repeated use. If you try all this and it's still making noise - PM me.

I'll try that! Damper has worked wonderfully otherwise. Thanks a bunch.

No problem. We've actually just revised the damper, and had a new one custom made that addresses a lot of these little annoyances - not that it helps you currently, but we are working to improve our designs based on feedback like this so please keep it coming!

Just installed mine FINALLY!

HOLY SHIT!

This car is becoming a beast!

Don't know if I like the 80A Shore hardness rear mount yet, that plus two brand new motor mounts it seems pretty stiff. 60A shore is less stiff correct?

BUMP!

Thanks again Brian, you really went the extra mile for me installing that damper late the other night.

This thing does exactly what its supposed to do. Night and day difference.
