I've decided to sell my 1989 Legend LS Coupe. It currently has 144k miles on it, bought used in 2002 with 102k miles on it. Many of you may know me from the Gen1 section several years ago, newer members probably won't. You can search to find out about my history with this coupe. Anyway, it's time for me to move on and sell the coupe, and hopefully someone can benefit from all that I've put into it, and all the extra parts that I have accumulated over the years.
Here's the lowdown on the coupe:
Car / engine runs strong, but the transmission slips when cold, not so much when warm. I haven't gotten around to cleaning / flushing the transmission solenoids, so I have no clue if that would cure the slipping, but it does have one of the symptoms of clogged shift solenoids from time to time - namely the flaring of the engine speed during shifting. Assume that a new / rebuilt tranny or manual swap is needed - if not, bonus for you if you end up buying it.
Shift position console switch should be replaced before the colder months (replaced once before). Issue is that "D, S3, S4, and 2" does not light when it's cold out - causes erratic shifting since there is no communication between the TCU and the instrument cluster. Jiggling the shifter will work, but depending on how cold it is, lighting in the cluster may be not be immmediate. Do a search on the forum for more info as I've posted before. The old switch is provided, so regreasing with dielectric grease may fix the issue for minimal cost. Currently not an issue with the warmer weather.
Center console armrest hinge is almost completely broken - hanging on only by the back end. I planned to repair it with miniature plastic hinges and screws that I picked up at a hobby shop. Haven't gotten around to it, but will provide the parts for you to do so.
Typical rust by the gas cap door, and rear wheel wells. Dent in the hood from the previous owner colliding with a golf cart. Lower air dam torn from the same incident, but repaired so it isn't hanging. Paint is in decent condition, still shines.
