I replace head gaskets for $1250 if somebody brings me either an engine or a car. That's including gaskets, and milling the heads flat. I can get it done in 2-3 days if my schedule isn't booked up.
what about engines??? har har...j/k, ohio is far...I think
if one were to have a BHG, wouldn't it just require that item to be fixed? i mean, i couldn't see it doing as much damage as lets say a broken timing belt.

no because
A) if you drive with a BHG and overheat your car, you will most likely warp your head
B) it will cost just as much to fix as a snapped timing belt because most likely in both cases youll have to replace the engine

I snapped a timing belt, and I'm not replacing my engine. 2 intake valves were bent, and that's it.
im glad that there are forums like this. i am in the process of purchasing a 92 LS coupe. im within a couple of weeks of picking it up. it was owned by my cuz who really didnt know much about the car and just fell in love with the appeal of driving a legend (previously owned a vigor). things like this are good to know, especially when i have to drive fron NY to GA. thats not exactly a situation u wanna deal with!!!

I have replaced a few BHG on Legends and none of the heads were warped. Only a severe overheating will leave the heads warped. My experience is that people replace the engine in a case like this as the engine costs less than machine work and head gasket set. Felpro gasket set is around (250 - 350) and machine work (resurface, valve job and seals) $200 - 250 per head. A good used 40 - 60k mile JDM Type I is around $600 and Type IIs seem to start around $700.

I wish I had read this forum before I bought my 94 Legend GS. I have it in the shop now getting the heads machined and new head gasket. Its going to cost me about $2800.
funny thing is I'm thinking about selling my legend. Not for any engine problems or anything but I think the gas milegage is too low. As in I fill this up every week for around $40-50 (since I still use premium on my typeII). I do really like the car but well, hmm my parents even think it's costing me too much money to drive it around for normal commuting. It was a steal at $10,000 with 18,000 miles on it, I finally brought it up to 27,000 recently. The only thing I'd tell people about this car is that gas is going to suck, as in when it says 18 mpg and 23 for highway it definitely means it regardless of if you have a "heavy foot" or not. though i still feel like

<br> This is the stock '95 Legend ...I had hopes for that turbo...but...it looks like the only thing I'll be doing is changing the transmission from auto to manual...whenever I A) Find a damn manual 6 spd tranny
and B) get the money (lol) + find a nice place to do it.
Oh...so let me get this straight...if I put this Type-R badge on my car...it will add 50hp? holy crap...where do I sign up?

Uhhhh, Yuri ... if you're in that much of a hurry to get rid of a 27K mile Legend, you bought it for $10K, and you haven't abused it in the 9K miles you've driven it, you're probably going to make money on the deal. My local dealer had a mint, low-miles Legend on their floor a few months ago for $16,000. Sold it in days. F***, I'll beg borrow and steal the $10K to take it off your hands if it's an AT w/leather vs. cloth.
Not only that, your mileage isn't terrible. I have a TSX (4cyl engine, lighter, smaller) and it stubbornly refuses to give me more than 18mpg in the city. Just suck it up, take good care of her, and she'll take good care of you
