Car 1: 1988 LS Coupe

Value of 1988 Legend

I have a 1988 LS Coupe, 5-speed, gold, with 89k miles. I am the second owner, having bought the car in 1992 with 21k miles. The car was garaged by its first owner and I have kept it either in a carport or covered. It's a cream puff in my view with all maintenance performed regularly. Speaker-amps have been repaired/upgraded by Willmans. Could anyone venture a guess as to the car's value and suggest how best to sell it? Thanks.

You could use a service like kbb.com or edmunds.com to give you an idea. I haven't sold a car in years, but I imagine you could put "For Sale" signs on it and park it in a busy area (e.g. shopping center). Autotrader.com, eBay, and Craigslist may be good options.

Thanks, by.

I've decided to list my car at washingtonpost.com (feeds into cars.com, I think) starting July 11. Asking $ 5000/obo but afraid I'm kidding myself.

I'll assume the timing belt and water pump has been changed? All reciepts for work done?

*IF* the above is obtainable, and the car is a cream puff I can see it getting $4k.

Thanks, Dave.

"Yes" as to timing belt, water pump and clutch. Not so sure about receipts.

Car has been babied but has several (minor?) issues -- needs side valve gasket to cure minor oil seepage, a/c system has leak, and car just now beginning to develop slight rust near right rear wheel.

Car shows well, both exterior and interior. Several leather panels have been replaced in driver's seat.

Hopefully, my ad will yield some interest.

Car 1: 1987 Legend Coupe, Original

Hi Mark,

I bought my 1987 coupe with 114K miles, in 1998. It's not too far off from yours. It had a new clutch and just did timing belt. I paid $5400 back then, and that wasn't a special price. So ten years later a similar car is not worth the same amount. I mean, I get it is worth the same because this is one of the best cars ever made, but you have to compete with the other cars on the market and the buyer's expectations.

I think KBB gives 10% depreciation per year. Someone couldn't sell a nice 1990 gold coupe 5 speed over here for $2,000 with 120K miles. I think you might be lucky to get $2500 for yours.

My coupe now has 253,000 miles and is still going strong. Mechanically it drives well, it has some cosmetic issues. This is the 1987 collectors item first year production model of the coupe, it is a 5 speed. I am near San Jose, California if anyone is interested. $1395
1987 Acura Legend Coupe 5-Speed VVVVRRRROOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!

Also check out someone has a 1990 with 45K miles,

1990 Acura Legend Ls With Ultra Low Original Miles. ( Flawless )

anyway, good luck selling yours for the most $cash$
