wider tires doesnt always equal better traction... a common misconception
putting a wide tire 225 on a 6.5 will cause the tires to balloon... and therefore you can actually lose the contact patch that you thought you gained. sidewall deformation isnt traction friendly and will cause your tires to overheat.
also wider tires have less resistance to sidewall flex.. i dont know if you have ever seen it but it can cause the tread to actually roll over onto the sidewall... greater chance especially if you have a taller sidewall.
like i said in the other thread... i wouldnt run a 225 on anything less than a 7inch.. in fact a 215 would be ideal for a 7inch.

So your saying I should keep with a 205 or go for a 215??
the 205/55/16 is actually a closer match than the stock tire size for the GS (215/55/16)
and according to your original post... your friend is correct... wider tires also affect turn-in.
anyhow the KDWs are made in that size according to the bfgoodrich but its not listed as a size on tirerack..
there are also some other nice tires in that size on tire rack... kumho spt, kumho mx, goodyear g2-d3 (expensive), pzero nero, fuzion zri, direzzas, and the ventus rs-2
so you shouldnt have trouble finding tires in those sizes either.

damn but 205 are so thin lol, yea the only place i found the tires were sears
225 out perform 215. 225 are rated for 6-8in tires. with a 50 series sidewall, i've chalked my tires and it rolls no more then 215/55. but improves grip. track tested.

My boy is selling his 2000-03 S2000 oem wheels. 2 sets of fronts because the rears are staggered. On some brand new khumos. He's a forum member.
Didnt meant to thread jack but, I used 215/60/15 on my stock wheels and they fit and worked perfect. Still think I coulda went 225 and not look like a ballon myself.
Im thinkin of 215 or 225 but I dont know what size side wall, my 205 60 15 have a huge sidewall def dont want that, the roads in my area arent tha tbad either so iono.

215/55/16, i called my friend who owns the local tire pro's . its been said before. but that will be the perfect size for you. 225 will work. they won't balloon a ridiculous amount. just make sure to get something with a stiff sidewall. and keep your air pressure correct. check it cold as often as possible.
i have personally run both a 215 and 225 on a 6.5 rim.
run what you feel comfortable with. but just keep that air pressure in check. and rotate when you're supposed to and you'll be bueno.

225s fit fine. They are not too wide for a 6.5 inch wheel. FYI, 6.5 inch wheels are only 165mm across (6.5*25.4), so 205 is also 'ballooning' out from the sides.
don't worry though, 20 extra mm is not even an inch, and an inch is just about the length of the tip of your pinky finger. (from knuckle to fingertip)

this is the worst comment I've heard.
20 extra mm is 2cm and 2 cm is pretty much when it comes to tires and wheels. I don't understand your point about the 205 and the 225 when it comes to ballooning, cause if that was suppose to make sense I'm lost.

I'm running 225/50's on GS Rims in my coupe. They do balloon a bit on the sidewall but the ride is balanced overall and cornering seems improved compared to 17" Tsx rims and 215 tires.
I just said that the comment about the 205 and the 225 seemed a bit bad by saying that the 205 balloon a bit then why not just use 225 cause it balloons anyway.
If the 225 works as well as the 215 then no problem, I was just saying my opinion and saying what the mechanics I've talked with told me when I wanted to buy new wheels for my car.
Second I don't quite understand why you all wanna change to bigger rims. The stock rim for type2 LS coupe and GS Sedan is 16 x 6.5 for the others it's just 15 x 6.5.
And what track test are you talking about? I haven't seen any track test done with a legend that used 225 and then 215 tires.
