Acts of Legend Envy

Okay -

What is Legend Envy ? When another individual stops you while your driving or pulls up next to your car telling you that they love your car and wonder if you would be selling it.

Let me here your stories.

I will start. Today I was driving home and 3 dudes in a nice Silver 2000+ TL pulled up next to me and asked me if I were selling (we were going about 30mph) when I said not at all he then said "well your car is hot". I have much more stories of legend envy. Let me hear yours.

BTW: My car is stock for the most part. 94 TYPE II Coupe LS with GS Rims. I am hoping you can guess the color

good god don't even get me started. I get stopped all the time by people driving bmw, lexus, benz etc telling me how hot my car is. But the best compliment comes from old people who love the car. That makes me feel good, when an older person in their 60+ say they lov my car. People please always respect your elders, because they are very very wise and that is the truth.

Here is my 2nd story.

I was on my way down to Brooklyn to see at the time my girlfriend (shes my wife now) and this lady that was in front of me was driving so slow so I over powered her and got in front of her. So now I am going down Lousiana blvd towards flatlands and this lady is like following me. Every turn I make she made and she is staying close. So I figured I went and pissed off the wrong person. So we both get a light and she pulls right next to me and rolls down her window. I was going to ignore her but said its better to take the abuse now and not let her follow me any more so she said "excuse me , excuse me , is that a 2000 acura " I said actually its a 94 and she was in awe. I was so gast up for someone to ask me if the car was a 2000. People our legends are timeless. They came out way before their times and can still compete with the best of them. Acura you better release a 20th anniversary legend.

Ok..

Few days ago dude gave me a thumbs up as I cruized by.

A few months back a guy and his lady are cruzing in a 97 CL 2.3 and he pull up next to me.. Ask what year? 95. How many miles? 88K. Would you thinking about selling it? Nah....

Funniest one, driving home on a Tuesday night pull up next to this guy w/ his lady in a LS400. My H.I.D's are kickin, His lady looks back as he passes me and then he stats flicking on and off his high beams.. I guess he though th H.I.D's were highs... LOL

Dude, my Legend is crappy, and people are still interested...weird...this one dude a few months ago, asked me if my Legend was a 95...I said 92.." wow, you've been keeping up with it then" he says...and I'm confused as hell, I got my Legend in worse condition than it is now, he asked me if I wanted to sell it...I say no, he keeps on insisting...so I tell him, "I'll give it to you for 9 thousand..." he shuts up and tells me thats too much, he'll give me 5 thousand...I say no, and up the price another thousand...hilarious...
Funny thing...my bumper is hanging, the rear bumper is hanging from one side a little bit, the hood is a little bent, the trunk has tiny dents, there is a pretty nasty scratch on the passanger rear side, the passanger fender was dented, my leather on driver side is fcked up, and at the time the dashboard was nasty and the steering wheel was nasty and fcked up.

Too many to list, but I list a general one

My car is nice looking, shiny, very stock (not even tinted), few scratches, nicks. But at least 3 times, in some large parking lot, a guy would offer to "fix" my dents. The rest of the conversation would generally go like this:

Me: "I have no real dents, just a couple of nicks I am fixing them this summer."

Guy: Backing up to get a better look, "Oh, that's a Legend. Year? Miles?"

Me: "94L, 83K"

Guy: "Come to my shop, I'll give you 3G's"

The part below was actual conversation. I remember these things because they are just so funny. Never happened in my 89 Lincoln Continental though.

Me: Teasing the guy, "why, so you can part it and make 10G"

Guy: Smiling, "Yo money, I don't need to sell parts to make my dough, I can flip that in 24 hours, 12 if you take cash now and then come here and get another, like selling crack"

True conversation ender - I just smiled and say, "Nah"

Friends... WHATEVER!

I went through some hardships while living in Orlando in 2002, and I was having a hard time making the payments on my Legend. My best friend at the time called my mom and instead of being a true friend and helping by making a payment for me, he told her if I was willing he'd take over payments for me... imagine that! Before he would never admit he liked my car... it was just aiight, but the truth came out in the end. Needless to say, I got back on my feet, kept my car, paid it off six months early, and maintained a prerfect credit rating. Me and the guy are no longer friends, and he wound up buying a legend EXACTLLY like mine (now THAT'S legend envy!)

Word to the wise... talk to your creditors, it helps.
