I was talking to the service guys at the Acura dealership about this poor guy in a TL type S that bought gas on the highway at one of those "JO BLOW" Gas stations. He needed fuel, so he put in premium as usual, and by the time he got back into Calgary, his car was runnin" the sh$ts. Acura took his car in, took a fuel sample and saw the fuel that he put in was 4 different colors.... layereed with dirt and crap and what not....The bottom line: $2500 in engine damage due to bad dirty fuel that killed all his injectors and screwed up his fuel delivery system.....

I have always used premium gas and always will. And now I am careful who I buy gas from as I want the best gas for my legend.... No more race trac gas for me.

see??

that is what ALWAYS say...some say its coming from the same place....well phooey!

I refuse to pull up in a no-name station, or use 87 on purpose.
Gotta pay to be the boss....not a Neon/Civic/Turismo

This is a premium car, and if not taken care of...well, down the road you will have a thread in the P/T section asking why car is running like ish, if at all.

Don't make life hard for you or your ride. Top drag funny cars don't run 87 either :p (I know, unrelated, but same point)

i think some people need to relax.... why the slurs legendz4 life??
anyway, yeah theres a technical reason for legends to say premium only, but to put it in plain terms, why not spend an xtra $2 per fillup and give a beautiful car better gas?? not sure about that conspiracy theory, but my advice would be... always listen to your pops, he knows best

DAMMNIT! I didn't say anything! Remember, I AM THE ORIGINAL! Legend4LIFE is the impostor, lol. MAYBE he should change his name? No offense, but I do not want to be associated or mistaken to making negative statements like that....and we should NOT be talking to one another like that anyway...just a tad bit immature, IMHO. I just want everyone to enjoy their Legend and make the one of the best Honda machines made even better.

noby even mentioned effiency...

moving from cali to ny, I switched from using 91 to 93 (cali premium is only 91...) a 2 point increase in octane has raised my mpg significantly!

as for exxon/mobil/shell/chevron vs. cheaper generic stations...it really depends on where you live. In cali the only difference between gas stations is in the additives: all gas in that state comes from the same, state regulated refineries.

what really sucks in middle of nowhere stations in AZ, NM, and TX where premium is only 90 octane...i could feel fuel map and ignition retard with that crap...

basically, its says prerium only for a good reason; so use it.

well here's a question for y'all...since we supposed to use 93 octane only, which i always do, would any higher octane be beneficial or are there any downsides?

cuz there's a gas station in my area that has 94 octane and i could've sworn i've seen 100 octane before...so does it help at all or anything?

Yes, and no. 94 might be better (Sonoco, right?), same with 95, 96...but, you will reach a point were excessive octane rating will do serious damage to your motor. Use 100? NO! Those are special purpose fuels generally used for race-prepped motors and some motorcycles (so i've been told). Around here you can get 112 octane which would certainly destroy the motor. Why? I'm not completely sure. I do know that a race built motor can use this stuff. I know of one eclipse which pushes over 20 psi of boost and runs on 10x octane (103 I think). I have also seen a wicked NA Type-R fill up on 114 before! Best bet is to stick with premium (90-93, 94).
