i used to work at a gas station that sold 112 octane gas called cam 2. (AMOCO) using higher octane will kill your catlytic? converter (cat) because, uhh not sure exactly high octane gas like that is only for muscle cars and racers with no cats... some bikes during the summer fill up with half super and half cam 2

Alright folks, i'm no hick since being asian doesn't seem to fit into a profile of a Hick. Anyways, stick w/ higher octane will probaby improve your engine life and fuel effeciency alittle. I think I saw somewhere in Helms that 91 rating and up is manufacturer's recommendation, but any higher would be fine, but would be negligible. All the higher octane ratings does is show how less likely to have pre-mature detonations that might occur at lower ratings. Higher octane gasoline like 100+ are used in the small prop planes like the Cessna according to my private pilot class I took my senior yr at UT-Austin while studying for my BA in Chemistry. So using a higher octane rating is even more critical because you certainly don't wanna have your engine stalling at a certain altitude due to the constantly changing air pressure and/or temperature and whether your running a lean or rich fuel mixture.

yeah, sunoco is the one i was talkin' bout that has 94 octane...i've never used it, just always used 93 octane...and the other higher octanes, i've never tried, but still unsure why they'd be at gas stations if they are rarely used or only by people who have super charged race car type cars....i dunno, i'm sure i'll put 94 octane full tank some time and see if i notice any difference on gas mileage or anything like that...but lower than 93, never use it.

its really simple, some cars were made to run on high octane, some cars were made to run on 87 octane.
And some in between, and some it doesn't matter. there are some cars that run way rich when you use 91 and up gas on it. And you end up wasting gas and mileage. There are some cars that when you add a modification to them that increases the internal combustion chamber temperature, its a good idea to increase the octane of the gas to avoid knocking on engines that may have previously run on 87 without a problem. And then there are cars engineered to run on that good shit...91 and up pump gas, those cars say "premium gas only", and some of those cars are Legends.....lets keep it that way. 2008 bump, sorry P.S. for anyone thinking that they can cheat the system, by buying octane booster and raise 87 octane 9 points from a bottle, don't get it twisted. Its actually a percentage of the gas your using. so say you have 87 octane in the tank, and you pour a bottle of NOS octane booster in with an 9point increase, your new octane is 87.9, NOT 96. So do your legend a favor, buy the good stuff, even if you gotta buy less of it.
