Advice Needed on purchasing G2 Coupe

There is a Legend coupe I would like to purchase. I figured I come here to ask Acura Legend experts.
The following is wrong with it:
1. Cat was stolen
2. Windshield cracked
3. 222k miles
4. Salvage title
5. Sitting in the same spot for years.

I would like some opinions on what I should do. The owner told me to make him an offer. I'd probably hurt his feelings with how low I would go. I want the car but idk if there will be hidden headaches. The owner said he put a lot of money into restoring it, said the engine has had work on it. When I get the money, I'll run a carfax, before I make a major decision.

What I want to know is, what would you do in this situation?

P.S. This will be my first time buying a car and I am a college student. The highest I'll go for this car is about $800

If you don't have experience with Legends, my recommendation would be to pass. From your description, there is no way I would pay more than 400-500.

Don't walk; run away! Buy a civic or an accord or some other car that you can actually test drive down the road before you give them your money. Do you have any idea of how much a new catalyic converter costs????

As Ari and Alan said, move on. This is too much to take on. There will be other Legends up for sale if your heart is truly set on one. (I know I wish that I had waited and learned more before purchasing mines.)

I was thinking of offering $500 for it. The owner said the engine runs and can be driven. I don't have a huge budget for a car anyway. I'd probably have a friend of mine weld some pipe onto the exhaust. But if I cannot drive, I will refuse to get it. I've taken an Automotive Technology class in high school for 3.5 years and my teacher will look at it along with me. My passion is cars, thats why I'm going to school for mechancical engineering. But thanks yall.

If your on a budget a Legend especially one with issues is not for you. Owners are hardly ever honest about the condition of things they're selling.

You have just been given some of the best automotive advice you'll likely ever get. Having said that, if you find another Legend - in better shape - you MIGHT be able to use this car as a donor. IF you do, $400 tops.

Thanks yall. I'm just tired of walking everywhere on campus and having no way of getting to school from home. I appreciate the advice. I'd offer the owner $100 if I was bold enough. I'll stick to my gameplan. I'll look at it with the owner but I'm more than likely not going to buy it.

Well good luck in what ever you decide to do. I'd rather walk than have a bottomless money pit. I honestly suggest a Civic or early 90's Accord, (once your more financially stable than grab a Legend.)
Just my .02
