Bad fuel Pump? Main relay? car will not start

For the last few months my 94 L has been starting kinda hard for the first start of the day, first turn several cranks. It stalled on me at a stop light 2 weeks ago.

I was driving around and made a quick stop, when i got back in it started then stalled right out and wouldnt start. It just keeps cranking away. Battery is good, i have a 6m old optimum red top. Starter fluid gets it to turn over it will putt as long as the fums hold up. I hear the click from the main relay.
I pulled the fuel pump out and hot wired it to the battery, it worked-just not that loud, like an electric toothbrush. I metered the plug to the pump 12v for 2 sec(put the car to on). Plugged it back in (pump) left it out in view and tryed it......Nothing, re metered it....plugged it back in ....nothing, no pumping at all.

I think its the fuel pump, but it did work put strait to the battery, a friend said it should be much louder.

Where can i find a new pump...autozone and advanced both do not have the right one, The one they gave me it twice the size and has 2 metal termanals not the single plastic clip i need.
I was supposed to go to atlantic city tomarrow...sucks

Please any help, experiences, links Thank you

Sounds like the main relay to me, if it works straight to the battery it could be the relay that is the weak link....

Dunno, I'd opt for the relay 1st-it's cheaper to replace, and much easier...

A new one from dealer is $80 or so....

Only place I know to get one. That pic is the right one, I remember that Mitsuba name....

You could crack it open and resolder, I've heard of memebers doing it before.

These cars cost enough money, save some by doin this one yourself!

If I were you, I'd do some poin around with a DVOM if you really think it's electrical. Pull up the wiring diagrams from the online service manual and try testing points where you think there's a problem. If you have a dvom, this is a free check that will tell you if it's electrical or not.

onemanchan82, love the sig. Where'd you find that panda? haha

You're going to need to check the voltages at the terminals which connect to the main relay; you probably have a bad connection on the backside.

I tell you guys what...I own a 91 Acura Legend and my car did the same thing for couple of weeks...after going to this site...I checked the main fuel pump relay..and noticed that it wasn't getting the 4 clicks that it should get. I took off the dash under the stering wheel and unhooked the wiring harnesses and replaced them. It fired up right away. It cost $80 with tax and it's easy to replace yourself. Follow the info on this site it will save you money!!!

i recently had the same problem, i thought it was the relay so i went to the acura dealer in jackson heights got a relay for 90$ and change... turns out it wasnt it... it was the plug to my fuel pump which had a loose connection, but since my car was already opened up i changed the fuel pump anyway... it cost almost 100$ for the part from autozone. it was a bosch one i believe..
