Battery draining. need help

my 93 Legend suddenly wouldnt start. battery was dead. i jumped it and drove to work, turned car off and tried to start it and it started right. but after 6 hours i went back to go home and it was dead. jumped it, got home and same thing started right up again until next morning when it was dead. went to shop and they said i had a bad battery because there was no drain when they checked. so i bought a new 140.00 Allstate battery and went home and next day it was dead. Any help out there would be so greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Dave

They actually checked the parasitic draw and thought it was fine? You've got to pull a lot of current to kill a battery in 6 hours.

Are you sure the battery posts are connected well? When it won't start how does it act, is there slow cranking or no cranking at all? Are there any lights or fans that are staying on when you turn the car off?

Do you have a multimeter to check battery voltage and parasitic draw?

parasitic draw should be no more than 50ma (miliamps). a 3 amp draw will drain a battery in about 10 to 12 hours. if you have any aftermarket systems(dvd, audio, alarm possibly) check that first. my wifes 99 odyssey did this to me last week and it was the aftermarket rear entertainment. craped out for no reason. disconected it and all is good.

checking draw is very simple.

Have them replace the battery one more time. It could have been bad new. If it does it again, try this. Disconnect the negative battery lead when you park at home for the night. See if it still has juice the next morning. If it does, then something is sucking the juice while the car is off. I had a one time situation where my battery died over night. It turned out that my left rear passeger door did not click all the way, and the cabin lights killed the battery.

Oh, for 20 bucks more, you could get yourself a red-top optima battery at Advance Auto. Very good dry-cell battery.

I HAVE A 1994 LEGEND COUPE AND I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH BATTERY DRAINING, I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH AFTERMARKET REMOTE START ALARM AND AFTERMARKET 7IN MONITER TV IN DASH WITH 2 AMPS HOOKED UP TO IT AND A SPEAKERBOX, I THOUGHT IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR SO I CHANGED THE ALTERNATOR TO A HIGHER OUTPUT ONE AND ALSO CHANGED TO SEARS DIEHARD PLATINUM SERIES BATTERY, UNTIL I TAKE TO ELECTRICAL SHOP AT NITE WHEN I PARK CAR I DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BECAUSE AT LEAST I HAVE MY DODGE CHARGER TO DRIVE, BUT I LOVE THE CAR AND DONT REALLY WANT TO SELL IT BECAUSE I ALWAYS LOVED LEGENDS MY FIRST LEGEND WAS A 1988 ACURA LEGEND COUPE IN GREY..

My problem was my relays under the hood. The were making the coolant fans come on over and over again until the battery would die.
