My blower motor only works when the left knob of the non-climate control switch is on full blast. I get nothing at any other setting. From searches, it seems that this could be the blower itself, or the "blower motor resistor".
Does anybody know where this resistor is, and how to check it? Anybody ever sucessfully fix this problem?
The Legend does not have a blower motor resistor. It uses a transistor module because of the completely variable blower speed setings available. That module is definatly the problem if it only works on the highest speed. On high it bypasses the module completely and sends 12 volts directly to the motor.
A blower module new from the dealer it is about $100. It's located behind the glove compartment mounted to the evaporator housing and it's easy to replace.
Thanks-Today I will swap the relays to check those off the list, and then move on to the "power transistor". Anybody have one of these laying around they would like to see go away?
Just an update- The low/variable speed failure was caused by the power transistor. While this is not a common radioshack part, I did manage to find a replacement transistor on line for about $20. I ordered one as an experiment, and if it works, I will turn this into some sort of a DIY. I will also have one for sale!

Seems like I'm having the same problem like you now. Were you able to fix that problem by installing a new transistor? And, what online site you ordered that part? Thanks..
To actually answer your question, replacing the entire assembly did fix the variable speed range of the blower. Very easy to change-no need to remove entire assembly, as it is accessable behind the glove compartment. I never did figure out how to just replace the transistor itself.

I know you're brand new and all, but the link I posted in my reply to your issue not only answered your question but shows pictures too.

I ordered it from a site called MCM, by giving them the number off the actual power transistor itself. Was about $30. I de-soldered the old one out, and tried to replace, but with no luck. Mind you I am about the farthest thing away from an electrical engineer or tech that you can get. I do not know if it was an incorrect part, or a bad solder job. Good luck!
As far as the location of the part- Once you dig through 3 nests of the above referenced thread, you will see some pictures of the entire blower assbly behind the glove box. The part is on the upper right corner of the evap unit. There is a brown plug that attaches from the top side. It is about an inch wide and a couple of inches long, attached by 2 screws. Once you remove them you can pull it straight out.
