blown shock i thought;new shock put in and still as low as before, helpppppppp
ok boys,i have a serious problem here.my car on the front drivers side is really low.like i have less than an inch of clearance and my tire rubs when i turn the wheel to make turns,so i havent been driving it.i figured my shock is blown.so here we go i buy some shocks from a coupe and me and my bro-in-law put them in,which was a huge painnnnnn.(words dont do it justice).we put evrything back, bolt everything back up and the car is still as low as before.now we just wasted 8 hours killing ourselves to change this shock for nothing.
has anyone had this problem before and what was wrong??any help here boys would b greatly appreciated.im stuck because i cant drive my car now.so please helppppppp |

The shocks do not support the car in any way, the springs do. You state that you bought some shocks from a " coupe ". Did you buy the whole strut assembly, shock and spring? There may be diffference in the spring length. A simple check for a shock is to press down hard on the fender and release. If the shocks are bad/weak the car will bounce three or four times springy like as opposed to one bounce if the shocks are good. I can detect a car with bad shocks by observing, usually older cars, going down bad streets and seeing them bounce continously. Kinda funny. The service manual does not discuss your problem either so maybe some of the guys that lower their cars will chime in with some suggestions and/or what could be wrong. Best I can do without seeing the car. RAP

Spring sag maybe... Before I went with Ground Control & Koni Setup, I had the eibach & Koni setup.. Over time my front drivers side became lower than all other parts of the car due to spring sag... I resolved it by buying an adjustable ground control suspension.. So now if my ground control ebiach springs start to sag I can just raise the height of the spring perch to compensate for the sagging spring... I have been having the Ground Control's on for about 3 years now, and I haven't noticed any ride height change. So maybe the Ground COntrols won't sag..

I think you need to understand the mechanics of a car before tinkering with it. It'll save you time and $$$.
As couple people stated before, it doesn't matter what kind of shocks you have, blown, new, longer, shorter, your ride height will ALWAYS be the same. I can get my brand new shocks, drain it of alllllll the oil, cut the rod in half, and it will still sit at the same height. Springs and/or spring lower perch location is what changes your height. Obviously it's not your spring perch height that is changing, so it leaves you with 1 clue..... DING DING DING!!!! OLD saggy springs!! |

Shocks? I thought we had struts?
I thought we had 4 wheel struts on the Legends...not shocks.
