These might be your issues:

Main relay
igniter
engine grounds
injectors
timing belt
fuel pump/filter
air filter
Cam/crank position sensor
Ignition switch

"the car turns on fine but it won't crank nor start"? Do the starter even turn over? or do you just hear a click?

Here is another link on how to troubleshoot the ignition.

If it's not cranking, the ignition is not the cause for your problem.

1. Is the battery charged? Turn on the headlights. Are they staying bright when the starter motor is activated?

2. Is the switch plate on the ignition switch in good condition? If the contact is burnt, the +12V main supply will not be switched on, so the starter motor will not crank the engine.

3. Is the switches +12V supply present (blower motor is working, clock is turned on)? If this is all right, you could bridge +12V battery to +12V magnetic contactor at the starter motor. Make sure the tranny is in neutral and the ignition is on. Be careful with moving parts! Does the engine start?

I just recently had the same problem. I notcied that my battery clamps were a little old n rusted looking so i went and bought some gold plated clamps from kragen and havent had a problem since. Make sure all your battery connections are clean and tight. You might also try getting a battery with higher cranking amps. (Hope this helps.)

This was my problem until I replaced battery cables and narrowed it down to the starter. Signs of it failing were:

- slow turning over
- intermittent failure
- single clicking (sounded like it was in the dash by maintainence keyhole) at first, then
- rapid clicking ( sound came from engine area right by starter)
- finally.. Sparks would shoot out of the starter solenoid, but somehow it still started one last time to avoid a tow.

If the battery is ok my bet would be the starter/solenoid.

1995 Acura Legend won't turn over

I recently had a no start issue where the car would occassionally turn over but would not start. It ended up being the main relay, replaced it and it's been starting great for a week. Today, I drove about 40 miles to a friends shut off the car, went to leave and nothing happens when you turn the key.

All the normal lights come on, are bright, and I can hear the fuel pump engaging for a few seconds, but you turn the key and absolutely nothing turns over it all.

I've pretty much got it narrowed down to either the starter/solenoid or the ignition switch. Any input or guidance on how to determine the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Did you check the wire coming from your starter to the alternator that could have caused the problem. I changed out my alternator this past weekend and after it was installed the car wouldn't start come to find out its was that wire. After 20 years it had gotten brittle and came loose with the slightest touch. Installed a new wire and she started up with no problems.
