Check engine and D4 + code help

Hello people I have searched through the current posts but have not quite found an answer, i just did an engine swap on my 94 4dr legend L with the type I and now my check engine light and d4 light are on, the d4 is flashing. I suspected initially that it was because I just wanted to make sure the motor would start so I started it for a couple seconds before i filled the radiator and i think that may have setoff the check engine light and d4 light as they both need coolant flowing through and there are sensors on both. could you please tell me how to check codes and how to reset the check engine light. thanks people.

my speedo seems to be working fine now, although it did do it the first time i drove the car, and briefly ( until I turned it off and restarted) tell me what you think. and by the way, where is the VSS located?

its on the front bottom right side of the engine.

You can reset the ECU by removing the fuse for it, believe it was #15 by the drivers foot, middle row (7.5).
