Dead Battery, No Power; but not the battery!

Hello Legend Owners;

I just wanted to post a strange problem I had with my Legend, in case anyone ever comes across it. Bear with me, while I explain...

One morning I went to turn on my legend, and nothing happened; No click, No dash lights, nothing. Immediately I thought "battery". But no, the battery was only a year old, and when I went to get it charged, it took the charge, meaning that the battery was good. So, I installed it, and presto! Back in business....well, almost, I still didn't know why this happened.

So, I thought it had to be something with the CD Changer or Antenna wires, since those were the last things I messed with. So, as I walked towards the trunk, my brake lights were on! i thought, what the...? I thought I seen everything with legends.

So, I disconnected the battery and went online since I had no idea where to start. Online I read an article where a few other people (not legend owners) had the same problem and had identified the Brake Switch as the problem. Apparently, behind the brake pedal arm there's a switch that clicks and allows you to shift from park to other gears. On top of this switch there's a hard rubber, round piece of bushing, that if it falls off or breaks, you're it does not deactivate the switch and the brake lights stay on, and you're battery will die, which is what happened to me. And I don't walk behind my car to see if the brake lights are off.

To fix this you either have to purchase the whole Brake Switch, or find a piece of rubber the same size as the one that came off (if you can find it) and somehow afix it to the same location. I used gorilla glue and that worked, however, I will be checking it and see if I can reinforce it, to make this stronger.

Good Luck! And feel free to toss questions this way...

I didn't check a fuse, because I had read it was the brake switch. And as soon as I put my hand behind the brake pedal, the pieces of rubber fell to the floor mat (crumbled up)

As for pics on this issue, I guess I should of uploaded some...but I was just happy to come up with a solution so I can get moving again...

Regards!
