Dealer Rips Off Front Bumper

Took the '92 for service this morning. After the service they parked it at the edge of their lot with the front end hanging over a curb...
Sure enough when they backed it out; it tore the front bumper right off.
And I just had the bumper re-painted a few weeks ago...
Just so happens I was talking to the fleet sales manager about a TL...
So now I'm driving a brand new TL as a loner... LOL

Are they getting you a new bumper? Maybe you can get a 94-95 front bumper out of it...

It didn't hurt it that I could see other than breaking the clips. They're just going to reattach it.
The car was a 1 owner when I bought it with all records, there are at least 6 receipts for reattaching front bumper. The fleet sales manager (I've bought several cars from him) told me the Legends sitting low would lose their front bumpers on parking lot stops. Hence all the receipts on this one...
The TL is great, I'm going to run it to east Texas for a prison visit tomorrow. Get it out on the country roads in the hills and twists.
I was talking to him about a TL this morning, apparently there are significant changes coming. Can't remember if he said '07 or '08.

In 07 there is going to be a TL Type S with a 3.5 L motor as far as I know.

The point of a parking lot stop is not to run into the fucking thing-it's a guidline if you accidently get too close.

Yup, i may have to get rid of my TL for one of those in the next 3-4 years. a 3.5 300 hp, 6 speed TL would make me go a big rubbery one.

Tow truck driver did that to my Leg when I first bought it. I had it towed to my cousin's shop after purchase. The guy puts the Leg down and starts retracting that arm thing so I'm like "Stop, Stop!" I have to lift the front some from the wheel well for it to clear and he's like nah I've been doin' this for blah blah years it'll be fine. RIP. Needless to say new bumper from the towing company before I even got to drive it.

I have several free oil changes coming between both Legends... LOL
This isn't their first fuck-up with me, it's their worst fuck up.
Sterling McCall seem to be paranoid about the customer service surveys, sorta like "we'll hook you up, please don't say we ripped your front bumper off..."
Their Lexus dealer changed the trunk struts on the SC last year (warranty), I was driving home and the windshield started cracking, went back to the dealer and they said the 'torque stress' cracked it. They replaced it, no charge.
As long as my freshly painted bumper isn't scratched or cocked when they reattach it I'm cool...
If they fuck it up, they'll have to un-fuck it up. Then we'll go for a 94-95 bumper, when I had the bumper sprayed I had a '95 grille, I stripped the trim and had it painted body color with the bumper, aka: GS... Gave the car a nice look.
I had planned to put a set of the GS wheels under this weekend, I won't see the car till Tuesday.

Front Bumper

I scrape the bottom a lot. Makes such a horrible noise that you cringe. Get out, look at the front (so far, so good). look under (well, it's not too bad), get in the car, and try to forget the whole matter ever happened.

Am I the only one wondering what you are going to prison for?

Oh, and Wayne, that sucks. Is it stock height?

They said it was ready, they got a little peeved because I want to see it in the air (on a rack). They relented when they realized I wasn't playing.
Never got that far though, they scratched the fuck out of one of the edges of the wheel well and it's not lined up well either.
It wouldn't have been an issue except I just had it stripped and painted.
The climax was when I walked into the sales manager's office and announced calmly and loud enough to be heard though the showroom "These people around here are fucked up!", he said "tell me something new"....
We go back many years... I still have the shiney black TL.

I have a friend locked up, in for 7 years, gets out in May. That's actually why I bought the white Legend, enjoy it for a year and pass it on...
I'm having second thoughts about 'pass it on'... I like it too much.
The car is stock height, the 225/45's raise it a fraction of an inch.
It was common for these Legends to lose their front bumpers to parking stops/curbs. There's a fresh bulletin at Sterling McCall not to park these cars head in. LOL... I remember back in the day when I had my '93 they were always backed in.
