I'm referring to the edge of the front shock towers, in the center of them to the edge of the motor- valve cover on each side. The distance is somewhere between 1-4" but not real sure. Any help would be appreciated.

From the middle of your shock (bolt) to the valve cover is approximately 4", from the middle of the bolt to the edge of the body is about 2" and the same from the edge of the body to the valve cover. Just don't forget that is with the engine shut off and when you rev the engine it will move.
