Q: So whats worse than your AC not working in the summer?
A: Your heater not working in the winter. Kind of chili tonight so I turned the heater on (engine was warm) and NO warm air I turned the AC button off and on and nothing. But after awhile the warm air started coming out.Could this be a loose connection? Another thing, one of the bulbs behind the dash is out but goes back on when I tap the top a little. Could this in anyway have to do with the heater going out too?

maybe the air compressor would be the reason for the ac blowing out cold air, that or it needs to be recharged. But the heat thing I got no idea, sorry and good luck with the problem

Hows the temp gauge been? When u warm her up in the morning, does the idle fluctuate a lot? (ilde = 1k then idle=2500 and back and forth?) does the heater work on and off sometimes? blows hot, then cold? could be radiator leak in your case too. When my radiator had a leak in it, thas one of the first things i noticed. cold air outa tha heater... once it was already warmed up even (as in your case)
go look at your rad. see if u see any cracks or leaks... look real hard! it wouldnt surprise me if that was it. keep your eyes peeled tho. watch that temp gauge, my temp gauge would be chillin in the hot when id look down, but her driving didnt change at all... shes a sneaky lil car.... u wont even notice unless u look down at the gauges! so keep your eyes on the gauges

Re: Does my baby have the flu!!
DSCLegend94,
you know, that our Legends are soooo complex in her electricals. Like, we have for every switch an seperate relays, fuses and sensors. And especially the AC is the complexest of all. The AC also includes an "Self Diagnostic Routine". These is posted x times in this forum. Do a seach on the forums for a guide. Itīs around here somewhere. So, before you begin, check at first the electrical stuffs in your car. It would be better for you! Mike / Cologne E.g. To replace an complete compressor is too expensive, but, if nothings helps, maybe the latest possibility. Last edited by MikeD : 11-03-02 at 07:57 AM. |

the 2 most likely reasons for not having heat (intermittently) are:
1)..air lock in the system....try bleeding the coolaant system from the top bleeder bolt when hot and with the heater on full blast...if you get air out (sputtering instead of steady stream of coolant) that could be the answer. 2)...thermostat that stays open or opens too soon at too low a temp....this tends to make the engine run too cool and degrades heater performance...the temp gauge should be an indicator if this is occuring. |
