Door Lock Actuator

Question: I found a used driver side door lock actuator for $29.00 buck, guaranteed working condition. I am considering to buy and fix this on car, since it's very inexpensive. Based on previous threads I've posted and read, it's my understanding that when I lock my driver side door and it continues to click about 15 times this is caused by a faulty "actuator", right?

I also noticed that the clicking noise is also coming from the passenger door, is this simply because if my driver door is clicking due to a faulty "actuator", that it automatically causes the passenger door to click as well, or could there be something wrong with the passenger lock actuator?

THanks.

I have the same problem with my locks as well. The dealer ship said that it is common for the driver side actuator to go and that was my problem. I picked one up used for $25. I took apart the door to install it, I just couldn't do it. It looks like such a bitch. However while I had the door apart I plugged in the new actuator and it solved the problem.

So before doing the job, plug in the new actuator and then lock the door to see if it solved the problem. If it works then great, but good luck getting that SOB in there!!

Good luck buddy

the one I saw and misread is on EBay and it's the passenger side door, not driver side door. So I am back to square one

Seen the DIY, how long from start to finish did it take you.

I'd like to find a spare that I can repair on the side when I have a day of boredom, so then I could just swap it one night while I'm bored at work.

Honestly I don't remember the exact time because it was a while back. It probably took me two hours that's with making the new rubber stop (I did not use the old one) and I always take my time to study my parts. If you could get one at a junkyard and fabricate the stop, then install it another day, you would save time the day of installation. IMO this was not a hard diy. Good luck

Hey guys, how's it going. I accidently started another thread for this same topic, but a different question. I really don't have the time to try and fix the actuator on my own, but I'd like to have fixed because the clicking noise is very annoying. I found a used actuator on ebay, but it is for a 91 sedan, and I have a 92 coupe. Any chance you know if the 91 sedan actuator would fix/work in my 92 coupe. I wouldn't be the person replacing the part, I found someone who is familiar with replacing the actual part, but not taking it apart as the DIY instructs. thanks.
