Door Lock Ghosts

My 93 Legend has "ghosts" in the door locking mechanism. Randomly the car decided to lock all the doors. No rhyme or reason for it. I'm driving along and all of a sudden I hear the clunk clunk of the door locks being repeatedly activated. Sometimes it won't do it for weeks (if I don't use the alarm function); then the ghost is back for no reason I can see.
Anyone ever hear of this phenomenon before ?
