door locks not working right??

Just got a 93 legend and noticed that when useing the key to unlock the drivers door it unlocks ONLY that door BUT when useing key to unlock/lock the pass door it unlocks/locks ALL doors

IS the drivers door supposed to do all doors?

the alarm is disconected

Oh and were there supposed to be remotes for unlocking this car? (i dont have any)

I was under the impression that the drivers door using the key would unlock all the other doors, I would assume also the passenger door also would only open the passenger door.

But I haven't used the keys to unlock or lock in a while, sorry man.

The keyless entry doesn't usually come with the car no, but you can have it installed for the keyless entry.

There is a keyless entry that was OEM, but it is hard to find and if found, all the pieces together often are also hard. I'd reccomend going the other rout and just getting a generic one somewhere else.

well this is for safetey, so that you dont get hi jacked trying to goto work in morning, school at night, they figur that if you open from the drivers side then you will not let any unwanted people in like say if your running to the car from a ugly vigor driver, that wants to kill you, you can just hop in with no worrie, but if it unlocked all the doors you would be jumping in with the ugly vigor driver. the passenger opens like that because they figure, your not the driver so your not about to drive away, so they say unlock all, so its just to protect the driver.

Perfectly Normal. It seems like there is a way to unlock the passenger door as well?? I can't recall. Does anyone have a manual they can check?

I have a 91 LS sedan and I have the same problem/question.

I have no problems with locks cycling and no problems with the factory alarm.

When I use the key to unlock the driver side door it will unlock only that door. Holding the key will not unlock all the doors. The key will lock all the doors.

On the passenger side the key will unlock and lock all the doors.

On my 03 TL, the key in the driver side door will unlock just the one door and all the doors if I hold the key for about 1 second longer.

Since I bought the 91 LS used I do not know if the unlock all door (usually called central locking) feature is supposed to work as it does on the 03 TL and many other cars that have central locking.

Anybody know?

Thanks.

Anybody? Nobody?

The service manual is not clear. As it appears in the wiring diagram, it seems that this feature is not available on US cars.

Please will somebody stick their key in the driver side door and try to unlock all the doors using the key.

Thanks

hey ronrhodes, i tried the holding the key trick on my 92 ls sedan and it didn't work. i can unlock all 4 from passenger door, or unlock only drivers side from drivers door.

must just be the safety issue

Thanks dasficktauf, I truly appreciate it. I guess that explains why I couldn't find anything out of the ordinary when I was troubleshooting (procedures in the service manual). I am in there now replacing the window motor.

As far as a safety feature, I guess so. But, many cars do this. As I mentioned before my 03 TL does this by holding the key (driver side).

Any rate, thanks again.

Thanks contact148, sorry about jacking your thread. I was adding that I too have the same problem/question and it seemed that we didn't have enough input on how the central locking system was actually supposed to perform. Now that your car seems to be working as well, I guess I gotta go digging for my problem.

Unless anybody else out there also has this problem with the key on the driver side door not opening all the doors.
