"Door open" or "key in" chime stays on after key is out

I'm having a strange problem with my '93 Legend Sedan. After I take the key out of the ignition and open the door, the "door open" or "key in the ignition" chime/bell stays on until I close the door. Anyone seen this before and know what I should check? Thanks!

tap on the key cylinder (where you put ure key in to start the car) your key sense might be stuck.

Thanks. I've tried putting the key in and out a few times but that seemed to have no effect. Did you say the "key sensor"? Is that part of the ignition switch module- i.e. would I have to replace that whole module for the key sensor, or is it something I can take apart and fix?

I haven't yet. Do I just shoot it in there, or do I have to take the ignition lock cylinder apart? Anyone know how I get access to it?

So I sprayed a bit of lubricant into the ignition lock cylinder, and turned the key a bunch of times, and that seemed to unstick the sensor. No more bell, at least for now...

Thanks folks!

I had this problem forever. The graphite spray worked for a while, eventually of course it came back. I'm cheap, so I just cut the blue/white wire (keysense) from the ignition switch. Door dinger gone!

I too had this problem at a time. I just went to a local shop and payed the $25 to have it fixed.

Well worth it because of how annoying it was. And it never came back.

What did the shop fix exactly?

I'm bumping this thread up, cause I've had this problem forever. I looked at the wires coming off my ignition switch, cause DEVANTHE DUDE said in post #8 to cut the blue/white wire. Well, I don't have a blue/white wire coming off the ign switch.
my question is this:

If I cut the blue/white in this diagram, is this the same wire?

Anyone, help, this beeper is making me insane, (as if I wasn't before).

Yeah i have this same problem too and it drives me fuckin nuts. I tried powder graphite to no avail. I will try some silicone spray next.
Will this possibly solve my cars problem of not being able to lock the doors with the doors open? Or am i gonna hafta dig into the lock actuators?

I actually used WD-40 and then turned the key a bunch of times.

The utimate fix would be to get a new ignition lock cylinder and have it re-keyed by a locksmith I suppose.
