Engine paint question

I started painting the plastic in my engine black, and then i was gonna put clear over it. But the black paint engine paint i bought looks brown to me. Its Duplicolor paint. In the light it looks brown, and under low light it looks black. It doesn't match any of the other black parts in the engine. Has anyone else had this happen? Should i just keep painting w/it?

I've used that type of stuff on brake calipers on my old integra and it was completely black. I dont know why it would look brown. IMO I would take it back, exchange it or tell the people at the store its possible that the labels were wrong. Is this that 500 degree temperature stuff???

I'd try high-temp paint, it's $5-$10 a can at any auto-store or WalMart
