With the legend can you actually drive as a standard by shifting through 1, 2, D3, D4? And does this like destroy the transmission. I know it says something like that in the handbook.

you can but before switching to 2nd from 1st put into D3 to let the tranny shift by its self, and yea it does cause excessive wear eaitherway but this way its less but from what i have heard if you just put it into d3 it will do a great job by its self.
