Okay, it took me 4 grueling hours (I'm not a gearhead) to remove my EGR valve and lower assembly today, clean it out, and put it back on. I had no earthly idea how to get that tube off on the other end so I just used some 12 guage wire and worked it in there as far as I could about a half dozen times.
I use some carbon dissolving agent and poured it into the EGR with the valve removed and then reassembled everything. It stunk for awhile, like the bottle said, but is back to normal now. It actually smells better (the exhaust) than it did before. Would that be a byproduct or a sign that I did something right? At any rate, going to drop by the first chance to the emissions place and get it checked out. I hope it works. |

Okay, did you remove the engine to take those pictures?? Sheesh, I can't even see on my car where that pipe goes. Much less how to unbolt it. Where are you standing and what tool are you using to take it off? I had to use a variety of open end and socket wrenches to get just my EGR Valve and that lower assembly off. It sounded like a Sailor convention in my garage. The neighbors now KNOW I am crazy.
