Figured out the TILT-ROOF mod.. A few comments...
Okay... After all the talk about the recently discovered tilt-roof mod, I decided to go have a look and figure it out myself.. I did and total time invested was about 20 minutes which included round-trip travel time to get my tools and go outside to my car.
![]() Is the mod easy? Yes, very. I figured it out with no help, phone calls to europe or references of any kind other than knowing it could be done with the existing USDM mechanism (which admittedly I only knew because of LegendGS's post). I'm confident that someone who isn't even particularly good at taking things apart can perform this mod. I'm not sure why MikeC and LegendGS didn't look into modding the existing mechanism first before spending $1000+ (or however much) on EDM parts to add the tilt option to the USDM moonroof. I'm guessing there was a moment of 'UMMMM' in there somewhere when they discovered the revelation but none-the-less they are out a lot of money, unless of course they installed all the EDM parts. ![]() To acknowledge and show appreciation of their idea & contribution, I suggest that anyone performing this mod paypal them something...Even if the mod is not by way of their soon-to-be-released DIY but your own investigation. The idea was theirs to begin with and because of that, they should be shown some kind of appreciation for it. Not owed any, just simply should be out of consideration for their time & effort! In regards to having to manually stop the moonroof in the 'close' position... I'm almost certain I have come up with a solution which will automatically stop it when it's in the 'close' position, regardless of coming from the tilt or open positions. All the existing USDM parts/mechanisms should be usable with the addition of only a couple extra small & inexpensive components. After consulting a friend of mine, I'll be trying it out on my car. If all goes well, I'll either post the info or offer it to MikeC/LegendGS to be included in their DIY if they like. No charge. @MikeC/LegendGS: I believe in and meant what I said about showing appreciation. If you like, PM me your paypal acct. and I'll add another $20 to your collection-fund. Thanks for the idea! |

Question: What difference does it make if the moonroof tilts? Sorry the Legend is the only car I've been in with a moonroof so I don't know the difference. Is more air suppose to come in, less wind noise, or it supposed to just "look cool"?
