The whole idea of this forum is to share ideas. Now, I read earlier that some money was invested into launching this project, well that was the choice of the spender(s). So, with that being said, I still say SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE OR STFU ABOUT IT!!! Boasting about it and not sharing what was done will only cause problems.

When SpeedDemon announced how to polish the headlights he didn't ask for money.

or

When people ask me for my tutorial on how to install the Levoc knob w/the working button I didnt ask for money. So........

Like 2 Pac said, "I AINT MAD AT'CHA"
Great analogies... polishing headlights and installing a shift knob... what was I thinking???

Yeah, it was our choice to spend the money expecting to do a full EDM conversion. Never mind, that we figured out a way (after the money was spent for the parts) that it could be done without the cost of a full EDM conversion.

I guess no matter what anyone says there will always be a few of you who just don't get it!!!!

BTW, if this is suppose to be a community and not a business, then why is Matt asking for donations (Yes, anytime money is passed, it becomes a business) to help support this website and why is there a store front at the top of the page? Sounds like there is a double standard here...

I will agree with you on one of your points. I should have listened to Graeme and should not have posted the tilt moonroof thread to begin with. I have definitely learned from this experience and you can be dammn sure, this won't happen again...

To everyone who has figured it out... Congrats and good job... and thank you for not making it public...

One quick question.. Why did you dump $1000+ into buying EDM parts and calling Europe **before** looking into modifying the USDM version? Understandably you guys want to recoup the money you spent on those parts (who the hell wouldn't?) but with just a little more thought & research (ie: looking at the mechanism you already had), this whole thing would have cost you nothing more than about 20 minutes of your time.. 'Can we do this with what we already have & will it be more cost-efficient' is always the first question you should ask yourself from an engineering standpoint.

Not trying to create any waves... Just curious that's all.

With hindsight being 20/20, its easy to ask that question. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer, other than we wouldn't have known what we know today without going through what we call the full EDM conversion. Why don't you ask the Acura Technicians that question... "Honda F1 even called his mechanic and Honda Specialist and they were blown away that we figured it out." I bet you if you go to your local Acura dealer and talk with there top mechanic they wouldn't know either. Trust me, I wish I could have figured it out before we went through the expense.

cakedaddy- i said that the forums was a community and not a business...thanks for agreeing with me.

mikec- the reason why matt asks for donations is because he pays, monthly, out of his pocket. i support him in asking for money since if he didn't there would be no legend board at all. so you are right, there needs to be some type of business or else there would be no forums. is church a business? they ask for donations? there has to be some type of business or else the firm wouldn't exist. TRY TO FOLLOW ME ON THIS MIKEC- in my statement "the forums is a communtiy, not a business" i mean the "forums" or "people" make up the community, so it shouldn't be deemed a business. the people will make it a business, with certain antics like yours.

however i do agree with you reinvesting the money into future legend modifications, but you never specified it to begin with. you simply stated, i will release the DIY when we get 50 people at $20.

heres a suggestion, why don't you ask forum members to give you $5 and when you reach x amount of $ then you will start research on a future modification. i would have no problem doing that and i'm sure other members would support you.

see as from a famous quote from a wise man-"it's not what you say, it's how you say it"-jigga622

also i knew this mod could be done very easily. as i said before i don't understand how you could invest $1000 into the research of this mod....it is fairly easy once you understand the concepts of it. but you did.

good luck

I guess we will always be on opposite ends on this one...

If you knew it could be done very easily, then why didn't you share your knowledge two months ago???

didn't think it was important or that other people would think it would be. the way i found out was that my friend works at a mobile glass place....they do sunroofs, etc....he did it on another car.

i had a tilt sunroof, back in the day on my old 98 mazda 626....it was pointless...the only reason i can think of off the top of my head is if you smoke (i don't)...even then the ash would get on your roof.

i'm kind of with you mikec.....from a business standpoint you made a bad investment and you wanted to make your money back right? thats the bottom line....i don't disagree with that. i DO disagree that you would ask forum members of this "community" to fund your bad investment.

i actually have alot of "cool" ideas for the legend, but wouldn't waste time or money, into investing into these ideas if i'm not going to either have my legend in a few months or it would just be a daily car.

Hey... don't hold back on those cool ideas... Share them with the community and let them decide if they should invest in any of them... Practice what you preach... this is a community...RIGHT!!!! so, lets hear them as I am sure the entire Legend Community is dying to hear the innovative mods you have come up with....

BTW, I never said I made a BAD investment...

MikeC

EXACTLY

Especially if you didnt plan on sharing the idea. No one on this board is dumb enough to purchase some back yard drawing plan for the moon roof mod for 20 bucks, especially if they can complete it on their own for nothing.

Hell, we get ripped off enough by the dealer and the other mechanics who work on acuras! We don't need to get A$$ raped by anyone on this forum.

One...

Here is where the boasting began:
http://www.acuraworld.com/forums/sho...threadid=32602

&

Here are the instructions on how to do it

1.Close moonroof.
2.Remove the inside moonroof cover trim held by a single phillip screw. You may need to pop out the little black cover with a knife.
3. Un screw the 4 x 10mm on each side of the moon roof & gently remove glass.
4.Clean the rubber edges of the moonroof with soap & water or any cleaner (it will be dirty)
5.Pop off the plastic cover on the front of the moon roof rails located near the silver wind deflector (use a flat screw driver to pop the black covers off)
6.After you remove the plastic covers on each side you will see a silver 10mm bolt (take them off).
7.Now, look along the rail and you will see a small rectangle steel stopper. (if you look close enough you can see the skid mark from the moon roof up until it hits the rectangle stopper). Note : the moonroof will need to be in the open postion at this point
8.Gently lift up the rail and you will see a small screw holding the stopper in place from underneath.
9.Remove the stopper screw with a pair of needle nose plyers (you will need to do it from an angle with the rail slightly lifted.)
10. Close the moon roof and re-install! Insert all screws.

well my first idea was for the community....that being a monthly or annual fee...this would help take the stress off of matt's shoulders. also i feel it would add sponsorship space. another idea is that companys interested in providing us with their product woud see a dedicated structured forum. ie. is300, s2ki....tirerack is a great example....they have a guy that provides price quotes and helps tire size and fitment....he frequently posts on the forums. also on s2ki they have a guy that works at a dealership that provides great deals for the s2ki members. i know that we couldn't have this since the legend is discontinued, but having A&Hmotors or acura of augusta wouldn't be that bad either.

i do practice what i preach, i just take the advisor role. i feel that there is enough aftermarket support for the typical forum members budget. i mean realistically if i invested thousands into making a supercharger. how many of these guys on the forums could actually afford it? we have exhausts, intakes, dv8 has handled the the heasders, downpipes and hiflo cat, lowering is not a problem since there a at least 4 options i can think of off the top of my head. we have new leather and hid w/projectors, brembo brakes and possibly a big brake kit. how much more could we ask for? the only thing i would want is a cf hood and legendtoo is on that. also bodykits, but there are a few out there. so realistically, for the typical legend owners budget we are set for mods. it isn't like before when there wasn't much for us.

i have more ideas, but want to talk to matt before anything. i feel this would be the responsible and mature way to bring forward my ideas.

BTW, I KNOW YOU SAID YOU NEVER MADE A BAD INVESTMENT, I SAID IT!!
