Finding Factory Stereo Code!?!?
I recently had some much needed rutine maintnance done(timing belt, water pupm, EGR flush...) and my radio was reset due to the battery being disconnected. When I bought my car 3 months ago it didn't have an owners manual or a code for the factory Bose. I know I have to locate a number on the stereo itself and call Acura to trade them the code on the stereo for the code that will start the stereo. My question is, how the hell do I get the stereo out of the console or atleast to a postion easy enough to read the code? I have taken out the screws in the lower trim and the Chilton's manual says to take out some screws under the ashtray but they seem damn near imposible to remove. I know there is another way to do it as I have done this on my first legend years ago. Any help would be much appriciated as it sucks driving w/ no music.

-disconnect neg battery cable
-remove your ashtray -in the slot below your ashtray, there are two screws...remove them -remove the bezel trim around your shifter -startinig from the side closest to you, gently pry up the rear section of the center console (area in front of the console/cupholder) -you can lay this center piece to the side or remove completely...to remove completely requires the cigarette lighter harness to be removed as well. -there are four screws in the front metal casing when you are looking at it...take those out -there is a 8mm bolt i think at the bottom of the radio in the back -remove the harness thats done this is from one of Leons threads ![]()

It's not neccessary! The radio is only held by the 2 8mm bolt on the bottom.

When you get to where you can see the numbers, get both the radio serial number and the reference number. That's what KNLNGUS did when we got the code from both of my cars' stereos. Then you call a friendly Acura dealer, preferably one that knows you are the owner of the car and not a radio thief. Some people have also run into dealers that want to charge you some money, but call others and you should find one who will give you the code for free. Then, you just turn on the radio and punch in the numbers and it works immediately.
In my coupe we also fished out my wedding ring which had fallen through the little door at the front of the center console storage area - THAT AND EVERYTHING BUT THE KITCHEN SINK! Seriously, we prying up stuff from under the console that had accumulated in the last 10 years from previous owners. There were about 20 different pens and pencils, about an inch and a half worth of change combined with all sorts of other stuff and all coated in old coke spill and rubber-like glue.
