Exclamation found a plug, UNPLUGGED? help!

Hey - I was doing the usual sunday cleaning and I found a plug just hanging by its wire! Its right under the glove compartment, coming out of the right wall of the passenger side. Here is a picture:

Should I plug it back in? And where?

Thanks

I think it has something to do with automatic transmission diagnostics, a reader plugs into it.
I remember reading about it, my '92 has one.

That is the connector that you short for diagnostic purposes.

yep..

you stuf a paper clip or hair pin or some piece of metal to both of the terminals on the plug and when you turn the key to the "on" position the Check Engine light will blink codes if your ECU has a code stored...

It's called OBD-I(1) (On Board Diagnostics version One)

OBD-I lasted until 1995 on most cars in 1996 OBD-II (2) was fitted to all cars by all manufacturers.

what do you mean "blink"? like flash a certain amount of times or something? because my ABS light has been on for about a year now even though my ABS' work fine. I meant to see what code the ECU was puttin out...
