GENERAL ROUGH ESTIMATE OF DAMAGE - PICS INSIDE

Okay so this morning, a truck decided that his lane was way to small so he decided to take my lane as well. I really was hoping to get this car sold before this, but now - i wonder what I could get for it. Somebody give me a very general idea of the cost of this damage.

im gonna venture and say roughly 1700-2 g's. Thats the quote my dad got for similar damage back with his green sedan. They wanted to put new skins on both front and rear door and the paint was going to cost the leg. That looks like it could require a new quarter panel.

Can't really tell how bad the front door is but the back looks too deep for just a skin, think it will need to be replaced. The big part is the quarter panel, it will need to be replaced. Would guess over 3k.

Depending on the body shop and quality of materials/paint and labor rates used it ought to be $2k-$3k. So you were parked while this happened or driving alongside the truck? Will your insurance cover this?

Front door opens/closes but with effort and it is loose up/down wise.

Nah, I wasnt parked. I was in the left lane and he came into me. My insurance is liab alone so they was like no go. Gotta get at his.

I was thinking 2 to 3K, but yeah the pics are not as good as seeing. That rear quarter panel looks to be the biggest deal there, plus I cannot open the rear door - it is fused shut - the door metal is pinched to the door frame and the handle is gone, plus that rear window only goes down about an inch.

That's $3K easy. I didn't have that much damage and it was $3700+. Sorry, bro---

Well, I see full side moulding, a rear door, and a rear quarter panel. The quarter panel is the killer.

I would have to agree with Stevieray on this one, you are looking upwards of $4,000 to be done right.

Go through his insurance, have them total it out, and then buy it back and part it (probably cost $500 for the buy back).

Being a '94 and if you have before pictures I would suspect $5,000 or better on the total then another $1,000 or more in parts depending on how you part it.

If you can drive it you can also ask MagicMikey what it would take as he did his which was the same quarter panel. He had access to a shop and was able to do it cheaply for himself. One of the unknowns is what and how much damage could be done to the rear control arms etc.

FYI he said he wanted to sell it before this. I doubt he has any intentions of actually getting the repairs done, unless they won't total it on him.

Yeah, i was wondering about the control arm. I mean, I feel a little difference in how it drives. But no, I really dont plan to repair it. I just want an idea of how much I could get.

Another thing, if they give me a check, I have to give them the car? And if I give them the car, how much is a "buyback" and do insurance co's apt to do that?

I wouldnt mind if I was given like 3000 grand and then give them back about 500 to get the car back. It drives, I am sure my mech could use it - he got a tan 94LS needing an engine and he likes my engine - I am sure i could get 1500 from him. That's a bit exciting.

First, look at Kelly Blue Book as $3,000 seems very low for a '94. I would wait and see what they offer, but if they go less than a reasonable KBB offer for your area I would talk to an attorney.

Buy back varies in price but every insurance company tends to offer it.
